Most valuable player to his team no one is talking about

Marner possibly? Matthews had an off year, has been hobbled a lot, but Marner's production hasn't changed, maybe even improved.

Crosby comes to mind as well. Pittsburgh is just bad, but can you imagine how bad they'd be without him?

Artturi Lehkonen in Colorado? He was a 3-4th line grinder on Montreal, but transformed into a Top6 player in Colorado. Very good defensively, but has now also found an offensive side. He was crucial on the cup-winning team. This yr:

“No one is talking about” and I open this thread and see Pastrnak, Hutson, Sanderson, Dahlin.

Bro, if you don’t know that these players are the most valuable on their teams you are completely f***ing out of synch with what’s happening in the league.

Pastrnak has double the points of anyone on his team and the other 3 are their team’s #1 defensemen. One is in the running for rookie of the year. One was on team USA, the other is captain of his team and was on team Sweden. Lmao.

For Ottawa lowkey players that make enormous contributions are Nick Jensen, Artem Zub and Ridly Greig. Greig has been leading the team in ice time the last 10 games or so.

Idk man I think it's probably a goalie or defenseman. I think Sorokin is quite literally the only thing keeping that ship afloat, Daccord is a good one, maybe Q Hughes or Lankinen. Probably have to really dig into the numbers, but those are my vibes guesses.
Lankanin has been trash since signing a contract, heard that one before?

And to think of the adversity he's faced this season as well. Lost Seguin for the year (his top guy chemistry-wise), lost Marchment for a while too. Has singlehandedly carried that Stars 2nd line and 2nd PP unit. Also was the key guy in turning the top PP unit around mid-season

Also, without him the Stars transition game from their forwards would be just awful.

He may have lost Seguin but he still has Brad Paisley as a singing buddy.

Probably a guy like Warren Foegele for the Kings. He's been the most consistent player the whole season pitching in on offense (20g 20a on a team that has long stretches of not being able to score) and leading the team with a +28.

Also wanna give honorary mentions to Gavrikov who has been our best defenseman this season, and Edmundson, who's been a nice surprise so far.

Not sure who you pick on the Caps(Ovi?) but Spencer Carbery has them playing amazing hockey.

Should win the Jack Adams comfortably.
That's only because the real coach no one is talking about is Scott Arniel. People can all pretend they didn't have the Jets written off this year. Even the majority of Sportsnet/CBC had them missing the playoffs. Sportsnet is supposed to be kissing the Jets Canadian ass but they barely talk about them in the intermission of their own game.

Yeah, he would be a good choice as well, but they don't coach in a "big market" so they get left by the wayside.

Guy has been a stud all year for us. 16-8-3 and a .919svp with 2.35 gaa

That is the 3rd best save percentage behind only Vasi and Helly and 5th best goals against average in the entire league. Sure him and Woll are in a tandem, but top 5 in both stats and has been consistently great all year.

Hope I don't jinx it but he has legitimately been elite.

I'm not saying Carbery isn't worthy. No one could complain if/when he wins. I'm just see Arniel as worthy of having a shot or at least some votes at number 1.

He's been solid but I don't think he has the amount of games played needed to really be in that sort of conversation.

I mean he's been extremely valuable to us with very little recognition. Obviously not winning the Vezina or Hart, but I think he fits for what the OP is asking. Everyone gives Matthews/Marner/Nylander credit, this guys been one of our most important players all year.

Thats fair, I thought he was going to be the back up for you guys starting the year but he really stepped up his game. He's been a really good signing that I don't think people talk about enough.

Wild are really missing Kaprizov's offense, but they really started to fall apart once JEE got injured.

HM mention the Gustavsson.

Oettinger has been incredible in net for DAL recently, winning games for them that they had no business winning. Don't know how long that is going on. If he can keep it going throughout the playoffs(like he has before) then DAL is in a very good place if Heskainen comes back.

PIT P% .601 with Sid;
PIT P% .633 without Sid

He's missed two games. That's it. That is not a good sample size. Sid no question about it has been valuable to the Pens. That team is a lottery team without him and with him they are at least not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet.

It's career stats. Missed 215 games = 2.62 seasons

Nick Suzuki is the one player the Canadiens can’t afford to lose. With the loss of Dach, Suzuki is the only offensive option at center.

I think Caufield has been better wire to wire but the Habs could afford to lose him as they have other wingers. If Suzuki went down though it’s over.

Also saw some crazy stats on Montreal with/without Hutson on the ice and it’s black and white. Team can’t win without him.
