Which prospect received the most hype/excitement around the NHL world at the draft day that went 2nd overall ?

Don't be biased with the player's career. And I'm talking at the draft, not at 16 years old too.

Off the top of my head; Laine, Spezza, Hedman and Seguin are all good answers. I am sure I am forgetting someone else as well.

I think Kakko also had a massive hype going right at the end, not so much throughout the year though. He had massive internarional performances, very similar to Slafkovsky.

This one, however, is Tyler.

Laine he was touted as the next ovi and raised legitimate speculation for the first overall pick head to head with matthews I would say Reinhart than seguin
I meant to vote for Patrik Laine not patrick

Seguin was the only one who felt like he might legit have a chance at being surprise-picked at #1.

Laine hype was insane. I don’t remember a player that had more of a circus around him with all the excitement. Matthews became too strong to overtake, but Laine hype was like nothing I can remember on this website the second half of his draft season. New threads were needed like every two or three weeks. The volume of posts on one player is like what you might see on the Habs board for their best prospects where they essentially have full threads just commenting on one random game for a prospect.
