Draisaitl is really close to this record in his last 17gp vs. the Preds, and being at an assist per game hes gotta be pretty high in points against one team too.

Is there a gold standard for dominating one team in a 20 game stretch, or a 5 year period, or over a career?

Gordie Howe has the most against one team in a career against the Blackhawksz but we'll never see numbers like that again due to 32 team era.

How about 18 games? Or maybe 21 games?

It is ironic to see the Oilers actually look good without McDavid.

Draisaitl has lit up the preds without McDavid before. He usually steps up.

I get it that 20 is kind of a random sample, but Draisaitl has been "around" the most goals in X games against 1 team mark for a while now against the preds. Hes sitting around a goal per game career vs the preds but its a much higher pace in the last 20 or so.

If its not a story at 20GP, when is it? 30? 40? 100? He doesnt seem to be slowing down. I think Gretzky had the record for 16GP at 27 goals, but Draisaitl is at 27 in 17 now? Not sure what Gretz did in his 17th GP.

Yes. Jarome Iginla(career) vs. Minnesota Wild

Id think a round number would be a good place to start. I also dont even know where to look to compare for this record, if it is one. Its a pretty random one.

Wayne Gretzky played 73 regular season games against the Quebec Nordiques. In those matchups, he scored a remarkable 50 goals, making it a record for the most goals scored against a single team in NHL history.

Thats what chatgbt told me.

The NHL record for most consecutive games with a goal against the same team is held by Wayne Gretzky. He scored in 14 straight games against the New York Islanders from 1980 to 1983. This impressive streak highlights his exceptional scoring ability during his career.

Alright, this seems to be a points focused thread, but since you specifically said 17 games, let me introduce you to the tale of Antero Niittymäki against the Atlanta Thrashers:

Antero Niittymäki used to dominate the Thrashers to a hilarious degree. Yes, the Thrashers sucked, but for the most part Niittymäki did too.

A career .902 sv% goalie was good in two instances: The 2006 Olympics, and whenever he played the Atlanta Thrashers.

He finished his career 17-0-0 with a .940 sv% against the Thrashers. No other team in the NHL that faced him failed to beat him at least once. Meaning he lost against every team in the league except Atlanta.

Is that good?

Points now? Shocker Wayne again.

The NHL record for most consecutive games with a point against the same team is held by Wayne Gretzky, who recorded points in 51 straight games against the Quebec Nordiques from 1981 to 1987. This remarkable streak is a testament to his dominance in the league.

The record for the most points against the same team in NHL history is held by Wayne Gretzky, who accumulated 250 points (including 100 goals and 150 assists) in 73 games against the Quebec Nordiques. This impressive total showcases his dominance over that particular franchise during his career.

They got tired of being told to dig in...but in all seriousness, sometimes when dad is away on a road trip (or injured in this case), having to carry the house brings out the man in junior, so-to-speak.

You should never use ChatGPT for factual information. ChatGPT is not "AI," it is a language learning model. It looks at things that have been fed into it and then spits out something that looks like it would fit into the data set. It will present 'facts' to you that are completely fabricated, and it will do this basically all the time.

If you ask ChatGPT how much toothpaste you should eat to get your recommended daily intake of toothpastium, it will probably tell you to consume at least two full tubes to maintain a balanced diet.

Its kind of funny that these stats dont include Draisaitl’s dominance vs. Nashville because he is not actually on a “streak” , he has 0 point games. He just scores at an unbelievable rate in the other games. Is there a way to refine the stat so it’s not necessarily a “streak” but just whoever has the highest pure production over a consecutive stretch of games?

Obviously it’s still Gretzky, but it would be fun to see the difference between his streaks and his pure highest output.

I think what you are grasping for is that Oilers haters are stupid and the Oilers are a good team outside McDavid.
