Boq had a nice game last one though. He started slow last season when he got his looks and finished season looking potent.
I saw that last game.. The potent version.
Unfortunately, not as slow as this season.
He had 4 points through 16 games last year and they were all assists.
He scored his last 19 points of the season over the last 40 games.
This year he only has 4 points in 29 games and all 4 of them came in the first 15 games. He's currently on a 14 game pointless drought.
This is more like his start in 19-20 than anything, only he has 1 assist and had 0 assists and 4 goals in 35 games that year.
I know he doesn't play many minutes, but he doesn't score enough to cut it in the NHL long term. 38 points in 148 games in the league is really just not enough for a forward, unless they play some kind of specific role like McLeod does. And while I'm not sure he's worse than McLeod, they don't see him as a ''Face off specialist'' or ''Defensive checking center'' like McLeod, thus he becomes much more expendable because of it.
I could honestly see him going overseas after this year. If we bring him back again for another year, I don't think he'll get anywhere near as much NHL time next year.
I'm pretty sure someone would have picked him up off of waivers if he went through this year, but not so much next year, with what he's followed up with this year. Especially if he's waived during camp.
And while I'm on the topic of McLeod, I don't see him as a long term player in the league, though he'll almost definitely stick around the league longer than Boqvist, because of that ''Role player'' factor that I mentioned.
