Player Discussion Most disappointing Hughes Acquisition (All Michkov draft talk here)

Got to be Dach at this point. It’s nice that he showed flashes two years ago, but it’s not enough. You couldn’t get either Romanov or Nazar for him straight up at this point so it’s a loss.
Eh Nazar isn't really that valuable and Romanov is having a meh season. Nazar has beck level stats in the AHL without the defensive play or ability to play center at the NHL level. His size is going to be a detriment and he's still not likely to even reach the level Dach was at two years ago.

I think Barron has been more disappointing considering lehk is still a good player.

Anyone acquired from those highway robbers — Avs management. 💀

Although the recent comedic British series about infamous highway robber Dick Turpin makes criminals of that ilk, look endearing (well worth watching), this in no way applies to the Avs.

Lose their number, Kent! ✅

To be fair, calling the Avs robbers is a little irrational. The Habs overpaid for a third liner but it's not like the Avs have much to show for it, either than acquiring Ross Colton with that second. The Bolts have a very promising Ethan Gauthier coming up. I would rather have an Ethan than Newhook at this point.

As for the Lekhy trade. It's a wash. Barron is not good, but Hage can make it up big time.

A GM with zero experience. Just like his coach.
For a guy with zero experience, he has done far more good than the previous clown that was in charge for almost a decade. Imagine Kent in a few years. The potential is there. His ability on getting firsts and seconds with relative ease is fascinating. Yes, mistakes happened with Barron, Dach and Newhook. That Slaf contract might also ruin Kent, but he has plenty of time to repair his mistakes. Michkov didn't want to play for the Habs, period.

Barron is still so young. We should be playing the crap out of him.

Dach is like the many coworkers all of us worked with, tries hard, put in the work, good work ethic and do his job the first 3-6 months or until probation is passed and then they show their real color. There is a reason Chicago traded a 6’4” 220 lbs 3rd overall pick 3 years after being drafted. Blah blah blah with the excuses!

Neither of those teams would trade either player straight up for Dach.

Nazar is over a PPG in the AHL, it’s not the same thing as Beck at all. He’s also by far Rockford’s best player.

Romanov, nothing special but still plays 21+ mins a night for the Isles. I can’t imagine what it would be like if Dach played 21 minutes a night. We’d probably be as bad as the Blackhawks

Before this year, nobody on these boards would have traded Dach for either Romanov or Nazar or even better players.

Exactly, everyone thinks he’s the player that played Game 1 against the Leafs last year before getting hurt. Somehow people never thought he’d be the player the Blackhawks got sick of waiting for

For me it is
1: Newhook - I think we overpaid
2: Reinbacher - Matvei Michkov was needed and looks to be every bit the player we thought he was.
3: Kirby Dach - was never a fan, but he has already shown more than I thought he ever would, so I’m still in wait and see mode for Kirby. I think he’s looked a bit better lately too.

You can never judge an athlete that tears his acl the year after his return .
There is a ton of material that shows those players need a lot more time.
So I would say Barron , he has the body , the talent but is bad that game of hockey .

His worst move is hiring coach with zero experience and not surrounding him with experienced assistants. But hiring in the first place was dumb.

This is it for me.

My personal leash for Barron, Dach is pretty long, but even when they inevitably don’t pan out I won’t be having a meltdown. Their potential upsides were worth the shot.

Slaf vs the 2022 field, give me a break. It is clearly a 1999/2012 level draft. Not a single NHL organization is living or dying on that first round.

He was definitely in the cards if we just kept the pick. The trade is a loss. And being good for 1 game isn’t something I’m going to brag about.
You all are acting like Dach has been awful 100% of his time here. With young Hutson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Engstrom, Mailloux and more in the pipeline, moving Romanov made sense.

Jury's still out and the season is still young.
, so is Dach. I just hope it does not end up like Galchenyuk, who was a PPG player for a 50-60 game stretch before Kopitar injured him. From that point on, Alex neeever recovered.

It was tongue in cheek. Obviously, Hughes made the trades out of his own free will, so “robbery” is just hyperbole. I thought the reference to Dick Turpin that I included in the post, gave a clear indication of what I was trying to do — I didn’t think someone would take it literally, so here we are. 💀

Barron trade. Rookie gm move, not knowing the true value of his players and forcing a trade because the player has 1st round pick aura.

Dumb from the moment it happened. Should’ve known Barron was trash.

The Michkov one hurts though.
We all knew he would be a stud, we all knew for years how starved we are for real offence.
I think he was passed on because of our irrational love of Caufield.
They didn’t want a similar player in the top 6
