I don't think the trade would be crazy

Detroit - Compher
Seattle - Oleksiak
Calgary - Weegar? We'd need to add to Rielly or maybe Coleman
Vancouver - Garland and/or Soucy
Los Angeles - Not sure what the deal looks
I don't think he waves for Detroit and Compher doesn't really make them a better club.

Weegar is the same age but better and cheaper so I can't see any Calgary interest. If the Flames finish strong maybe they look at adding to their D this summer so perhaps a Coleman. The Flames like him a lot but he is a winger and their real need is at C.

I don't think Van would move their 3rd leading scorer and Soucy looks bad this year but I think Rielly would waive to go there. If they value Mo enough they actually have room for an LD. I am not sure how much better Garland makes them because they have wingers coming up but he has value and only 1 more year on his deal.

I don't think LA has any cap space once they are healthy but if they want to move Gavrikov that could be a start. However their roster core has a lot of age so would they want to add Mo into his senior years?

Seattle does seem like a place he might waive for but I don't know what they would give up. Oleksiak is not the popular guy of a couple of years ago but he would be more attractive if he was a righty.

For sure its possible but I find it difficult to imagine solving any of their weaknesses if they find a taker he would waive for. The big thing would be if they recognize the value of getting out from under that $7.5M for the next 5 years. We know they are going to get raunched by Marners agent this summer so it could have needed long term cap benefits. But are Shanny and Tre taking the long view now or is it survival? Another short playoff would generate a real shakeup from the Prez on down so who knows?

AC pointed out that Rielly's wife is from the Michigan / Windsor area (forget) so that might make the Detroit one more viable. Compher is a right shot centre that could likely work as our 3C.

Vancouver would be the one Rielly likely wants the most, Garland is pretty good but it frees up money long term.

LAK is a hard fit to imagine.

Oleksiak has historically played on his off side as a left shot but he's older now, might be hard with his skating.

Calgary...we'd need to add for Weegar 100%, no way around it but they actually have Andersson, Pachal and Mirondov as right shot D. Weegar plays LD for them but their LD otherwise is Bean and Bahl so Rielly would be a big upgrade as a natural left shot but we would need to add something else that is attractive to them. I'd need to think on what that actually is.

Most likely, Rielly is staying put for the duration of the contract and it's going to be a slog.

If cap space permits I almost wouldn't mind just investing in a higher end number one D and just moving Rielly and his cap hit to LW or something like that. His tunnel vision rushing and remaining speed isn't bad and can be shifted away from a more critical position on the blueline. Alleviate him of the defensive responsibilities he's not really great at handling in the first place.

It might work but he would be an expensive 4th line LWer .. he couldn't produce offensively on 1st 3 lines and he doesn't hit so 4th line might be a bad fit .. to me 4th line C is more likely
