The Darkest Timeline

First off, my point remains about short term memory. This is the only playoff series where Rielly wasn't one of our best players.

As for this play, almost all of the players on the ice share the fault for allowing that goal (Samsonov and Marner in particular). Rielly didnt anticipate the play, but he's not directly responsible for the goal against. JT was also out of position and didn't apply pressure quick enough on Lindholm which allowed him to line up the dump-in pass. Nylander was also puck watching and not skating.

Marner was with Pastrnak then stopped skating despite having fresh legs and just coming off the bench.

Samsonov could've easily gotten to the puck ahead of Pastrnak (or closed down and give him no room to shoot/deke).

Rielly was stuck puck watching a bit, but that was Marner's man and Samsonov made a poor decision in net. Nothing Rielly can do at that point considering the speed Pastrnak was coming in on the opposite wing whereas if Marner kept pace with him he could've disrupted the play.

Edit: Anyways, I'm pretty sure you already made up your mind and dont seem open to discussion/debate so no point going further. A pedestrian 14 games isn't going to change my opinion on him and as I mentioned he had a fantastic stretch from the 2022-23 playoffs through the 2023-24 regular season which holds more weight to me than the last 14 games (where he's been closer to mediocre than terrible as some people are claiming).

Been saying it for a decade, Rielly’s a flat out loser with zero IQ and is defensively one of the worst in the league.
I just can’t understand how people still defend this pylon. He sucks offensively and defensively, is useless on special teams and brings next to nothing to the table. His point totals are merely a function of playing big minutes with offensively gifted players. He ain’t setting up plays or making great passes.
I think Berube knows he sucks. Finally a coach that has the balls to take him off PP1. OEL is a million times better than him for a fraction of the price.
His contract is the worst on the team by far. Nobody would ever trade for this clown unless we are getting a bad contract back.
It kills me knowing we are stuck with this imbecile for another 5 years.
Year after year so many used Rielly’s partner as the real problem. Even paired with Tanev he looks like garbage.
Just look at the team’s record when Rielly does not play, basically unbeatable. This is not a small sample size either.
If anything it's been Tanev keeping Rielly afloat this year.

Rielly's been another level of awful this year to start.

I really do hate this tendency we have as a fanbase to tear one thing down to prop another up. OEL and Taney can be great without having to shit on Reilly lol
Lol wtf is this even supposed to mean?

Rielly has been the clear weak link in the top-4, he's a big boy and would probably admit it himself, he knows he needs to be a lot better.

Mo looks overweight. Not sharp mentally or on the playmaker and is still firing at the crest or wide routinely. He needs disciplined and to smarten up.

He was last man back .. he had a 20-foot lead and he is faster than Pasta .. sure Mitch f'ed too .. but Rielly is supposed to be a no 1 dman .. no no 1 dman on any junior team, echl team and/or ahl team never mind an NHL team gets BEAT like that at da most important time of game with season on da line

He should have stood up for himself against the vasilevsky shower job……he’s a puss
You can call Mo a bunch of things, but a 'puss' or a coward he is not at all.

He looks like he will be out of the NHL in 2 years right now

Been horrible. Hopefully just early season struggles and not the next John Tavares like decline

He looks like he has no drive whatsoever. Lackluster effort with a shot into the crest and a change.

Mo hasn't been good at all this year. With that said how many defenseman are available every year that are better then he is and would improve our team. The answer is usually none. Top 15 D men league wide are just usually not available so we are stuck with mo for better or worse.

My feeling is Rielly coasts on reputation and his quality of play isn’t really a number one defenseman but probably a 2 who slides into 3 on a bad night with a bad partner, with a lot of sloppiness in his game.

We can debate how feasible it is to replace him year to year but I don’t think guys like Hanifin and Sergachev are any worse than him and they were moved.

If at all possible I’d be looking to replace Rielly and not try and build around and below him on the depth chart. He’s not a perfect player and now he looks like someone with a lot of job security.

Rielly has a full NMC until July 1, 2028, when he can put in a 10-team no-trade list for the last two years of his contract.

Good luck moving his contract before then -- except to maybe Vancouver or Seattle.

Reilly has no interest in defending. Its pretty agitating watching him pinch and putting his own team under pressure because of it. Reilly looks like 4-5 dman right now. Aside from carrying the puck/decent skater, he gives u nothing.
