Reilly needs to be brought into the video room, show him defending down low in the playoffs, show him defending forecheckers, tell him lets do what u want deep down Morgan, forget being a defender, ur playing forward tonight, u dont give a fff about the d zone. Leave it there and see what happens. Reilly cant run pp1, cant defend, he can only skate and carry the puck but has no clue what to do with it. Reilly is too comfortable being a 3 million dollar d man wearing a 7.5 million dollar mask.
He hasn't been good this yr.

Let Marner walk and we can afford someone to push him into the #2 role. We need a horse back there.

It’s not Morgan’s fault we decided to pay our ENTIRE defence core less than 15M. That’s the f***ing joke here.

Invest in D and G and we can go somewhere.

Oh and Fire Keefe and Shanahan ASAP
Marner walked not much chance at a step forward. Can't just pull a magic defenseman.

His little stick check there was gutless. Like you couldn’t body the guy and went to play the puck with the deke already complete? Just gutless.

The best thing he ever did this year was take a spazz out suspension. Team went on a heater without him on the ice.
If he didn't spaz and got hurt is the heater the same or was the heart the ignition?

Rielly has played fine...perhaps most should watch the games without a predetermined opinion. He is just a few games into playing with a new partner and a new coach. He is playing more physical as the coach wants.
Your number 1 dman should be penalty killing period even Adam fox pks

Don’t understand the Rielly hate
I think it's because he's been here so long the only time people feel like talking about him is when he gets burned on a play and they want to vent on the internet. Those posts add up across the different Leafs websites and we end up with a bit of a warped picture of his defensive play. I think this happens to a lot of defencemen across the league. Like they can't "all" be bad.

Reilly is a major liability playing top pair minutes. Berube I hope is calling Reilly out for his pinching especially because its not working at all. Its really annoying watching Reilly pinch and dump and chase the puck. He can not forecheck so wtf is he attempting to do? He isnt good along the wall, or down low. Last night he did this twice on 1 shift. He clearly does not have hockey sense, its just pinch and see what happens. If Berube does rein in Reilly and he isnt pinching, isnt on PP1, he will be a 30 point dman, which I feel he is at his core, despite 72 point season, reason being the forwards are all stars. Last year Reilly missed 5 games in a row, d core wasnt pinching every shift, the team won 5 in a row I recall.

Rielly’s best attribute is when he plays his instinctive rush game by utilizing a speed burst and taking it to the net. Or as a trailing man. Everything else in his game is not that great. Defensive details are sloppy. PP distribution is sluggish and telegraphed. Bad point shot. Inopportune pinches. Chicken with its head cut off defending 2 on 1’s and protecting the slot. His reputation is great speed and skating but his off speed game is so sluggish.

Mo's been this way for years, going through stretches of bad play followed up by stretches where he looks great, it's happened in at least 4 of the last five seasons.

He's a C-tier top pair D, good enough but he can't carry the defense, but not everybody is Makar, Hedman or Josi. I like the Tanev and OEL additions even as it drops his role. He's not a 26 minute true #1 guy but he's fine at 22-23.

He should be wheeling more and his awareness of when to jump up is usually good (it hasn't been so far), he's going to get his 50-55 points. The good usually more than makes up for the bad with him.

He's a very flawed player, he lost his guy a lot of times or didn't know who to take off scrambles in the NYR game.
