Now that Kuzmenko and Pelletier have actually played (albeit only one game) trade seems not so bad.

Playing Matvei with Tippett up in the lineup is nice. And as with Risto can see the benefit of Kuzmenko actually receiving coaching. Had his best season playing under Boudreau and Tocchet - two "dinosaurs" like John Tortorella.

Age is irrelevant; performance matters. Tortorella kills players offensive production. He admits that he doesn't know anything about it. After watching his team here for two and half seasons, he has proved his point. We'll just have to wait and see if Farabee and Frost stagnate in Calgary. Based on the evidence of other players (ex-Panarin, Sedins, et al) that were able to get away from Tortorella, they'll do just fine.

Have pretty much watched the Flyers my entire lifetime. Equating what is going on with the current regime to previous ones is irrelevant.

That's almost like equating the New York Giants franchise built by George Young, Ray Perkins and Bill Parcells with the current mess run by Joe Schoen, John Mara, etc.

Since the days of Bernie Parent with a couple of notable exceptions like Hextall and Boucher (who for some inexplicable reason did not spend his entire career with the Flyers) the club has not been able to develop goalies from within. In Carter Hart and now Sam Ersson they've developed two (with others on the pipeline).

Thanks to Brad Shaw, veterans like Risto, Sanheim, Sean Walker and Nick Seeler are reaching levels previously unanticipated; with a half dozen or so prospects just starting to emerge.

Similarly, the Flyers have talented forwards emerging and the resources which should allow the team to compete without relying on overpriced free agents to fill a lineup in the future.

Jones, Brierre, Tortorella and company seem a lot better than their predecessors.

And while it's not a popular opinion on here, with the emergence of Brink and Cates - and the success of players like Bump and some of the draft picks still in college or Lehigh Valley - Fletcher's group might deserve more credit, too.

That's your "evidence"? The Sedins scored before Torts and were finished when he coached them; never winning anything. Panarin led Columbus in goals and signed a contract that Columbus couldn't match. He too has yet to win a championship.

I notice you ignore a bunch of guys who put up outstanding goal totals playing for him.
