Confirmed with Link: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee traded to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Your exact words when we found out the return were "Briere isn't that stupid, I think."

What changed? Unless you took a break to eat some lead paint chips, I don't see how you can weasel out of thinking Briere is stupid.
He doesn't have to weasel out of anything because he doesn't have real opinions on anything. Gets off on taking the opposite side of what people on here think and writing a lot of words about it. Really should just stop acknowledging him.

They weren't singled out b/c they were in Tort's doghouse.
Frost was 3rd in 5x5 minutes the last 10 games. Farabee was 5th.

They were singled out b/c Briere didn't like their style of play.
The fact they got a smaller player back tells you size doesn't matter.

The fact that they tell you size matters tells you size matters. That they got a small player they're going to hate for being small tells you they're a f***ing stupid.

I think this was mostly about Briere finishing his evaluation of the team.
He's decided who are the core players, and the rest are on the market.

And it also suggests they know the rebuild is going to take 3 or more years, so anyone not penciled in for 2027-28 is available.

Trading Frost and Farabee now is raising the white flag for this season, pretty close to ensuring they pick in the top ten and have two picks in the 30s. 5 picks in the top 40 is a pretty good start for the rebuild.

All they did in this trade was clear cap space sooner. That's it. The timeline was moved UP by this trade to anyone that's actually paying attention.

Make the playoffs next year and SC contenders for the following year. That's the plan. That's the timeline that now THREE media members have talked about. Myrtetus brought it up today.

There was no need to pull the trigger now. It’s not even the deadline. They could have waited until spring!
Briefed thinks he won the trade and torts made him initiate it.
They spoke to kuz specifically and asked him to waive. He’s the main target in this shit sandwich of a trade and he was coveted somehow.
You were right, briers is stupid.

Flyers needed Calgary’s 1st in this years draft for this trade to even be a win win for both teams!
The direction of this team is so f***ed up…

Calgary doesn't even definitively have Calgary's 1st in this year's draft. It's part of a weird string of restrictions based on where Calgary finishes, whether or not they get the Panthers' '25 #1 (which was tied up as a result of the Chiarot and Giroux trades), and what Montreal decides to do with respect to resolving the Monahan trade.

Truly. He posts like he wants to be taken seriously but just says whatever he can in any given moment to defend this team. He's admitted himself in the past that he changes whatever he thinks to align with what the Flyers do/say/think.

Nothing you say will ever change his mind, because he doesn't actually listen.

Reading the thread from start to finish, my favorite parts were DH saying the speculated return was bad so there obviously is a bunch of high picks or prospects coming.

Then when that DID NOT materialize have to go into full defense mode and ignore the takes he made minutes to an hour earlier and now have to try to find ways to spin the BAD RETURN into a positive like "Well, it's going to be about freeing up money."

Ok... but that money was freed up when you said the trade return WAS BAD. That doesn't change that assessment.
And he can never make those comment be forgotten. It was funny as shit to see play out

If we stop acknowledging dead then we would all be sitting here saying “yup” to one another.
The team is in shambles while being run by the smartest people in the room. There’s no actual counterpoint.

Here's how 3rd party sees it:

Frost is a talented, slick playmaker, but there’s a reason Philadelphia, which is desperately starved for top-six centers, is happily moving on from him. The 25-year-old was pretty sheltered, matchups-wise, during his time with the Flyers. He doesn’t play a heavy, competitive game and is an inconsistent player. Frost is still a worthwhile bet for the Flames because there’s very little risk, and they could use another top-nine center. However, I’d expect Farabee to be the more impactful player in the long term.

An outside source that doesn't seem to know appropriate context. For example, they know Frost is a playmaker. What they neglected to mention is the Flyers and Tortorella despise and actively suppress playmakers.

Every single one they have had for 15 years, they've developed beef with. Every single one. It's the dumbass Tippetts of the league they adore, and it's a big reason they've done nothing but decay since 2010

$5M isn't going to make much of a difference. What will it buy you on the FA market?
And the 2025 draft isn't going to arrive until 2027/2028.
So exactly how does this "speed up the timeline?"

The timing suggests the opposite, Briere is basically deep sixing this season, which means they've decided this team can't even make a PO run so no point waiting.

Let's hope not, but Danny isn't smart so who knows, they just need to flip him at the deadline and hold onto the cap space

They persuaded him to waive his NTC to come over. In that context, Briere has no balls to move him at the TDL again - last guy who had guts to do that was Homer

Ersson and Fedotov sure look like a playoff team's goalies. :snide:

Not to mention that complete lack of scoring up front outside TK.
