Confirmed with Link: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee traded to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

"There has to be something else coming." "Cap space." "Preparing for an offer sheet."

Pure delusion.

We’ve all had friends trapped in bad relationships. Hell, many of us have been there. That’s all this is at this point.

Well, it would be the same if a man with the largest head in the cosmos came on the tv 75 times a year to tell us how much that shitty partner actually loves us.

I'm thinking that Briere started the conversation with "What is the bare minimum that you can give me to make it look like an actual hockey trade?"

"Okay, now change that 1st to a 7th and we'll take back Kuzy too, so you feel like you got a good deal"

"There has to be something else coming." "Cap space." "Preparing for an offer sheet."

Pure delusion.
Entirely delusion. Even if thinking there’s more coming, or cap space, it’s either a move for the sake of moving NOW, or Torts declared it so.
There’s no other explanation on that return without the pressure of a deadline looming in front of briere.
Of course my phone learns briere once I stop autocorrecting the proper spelling.

Sleeping on it, IDGAF about Farabee or Frost. About the return. These idiots are never going to do anything worth a damn with late first rounders. That’s a sad reality, but is what it is.

It’s a poor decision, poor trade - but not a crippling one.

The worst part of this, is you’ve got no buffer between Torts - and Michkov now. He’s directly in the crosshairs, and there are no human shields left with Joel, and Morgan gone.

Briere is a POS, but Torts remains the most likely one to cause harm.
It is crippling imo. We don’t have anyone on the roster that can comfortably replace frost or farabee let alone both. We don’t have any prospects that we know of that can replace them because we have not been playing prospects to gauge their competency. The players we traded for them are inferior players.
We now have to use the picks we have to replace the players we moved. We weakened both our current team, our current pick pool, and the future of both.

Here's how 3rd party sees it:

Frost is a talented, slick playmaker, but there’s a reason Philadelphia, which is desperately starved for top-six centers, is happily moving on from him. The 25-year-old was pretty sheltered, matchups-wise, during his time with the Flyers. He doesn’t play a heavy, competitive game and is an inconsistent player. Frost is still a worthwhile bet for the Flames because there’s very little risk, and they could use another top-nine center. However, I’d expect Farabee to be the more impactful player in the long term.

I’ll bite.

Let’s say it’s all true.

That’s another two first round picks by the organization that didn’t work out.

Interesting comparing production of the regular forwards between Calgary and Philly since the start of 22-23. The Flyers removed their 3rd and 4th top scorers, who scored at about the same rate as Calgary's 3rd and 4th top scorers.

Konecny - 187 points (134 ES, 37 PP, 16 SH) in 189 games (0.99 P/GP)
Tippett - 132 points (106 ES, 26 PP) in 207 games (0.64)
Frost - 112 points (89 ES, 23 PP) in 201 games (0.56)
Farabee - 108 points (96 ES, 12 PP) in 214 games (0.50)

Laughton - 107 (76 ES, 14 PP, 17 PP) points in 210 games (0.51)
Cates - 78 points (64 ES, 10 PP, 4 SH) in 190 games (0.41)

Kadri - 165 points (114 ES, 51 PP) in 214 games (0.77 P/GP)
Huberdeau - 143 points (95 ES, 45 PP, 3 SH) in 210 games (0.68)
Coleman - 121 points (104 ES, 7 PP, 10 SH) in 210 games (0.58)
Backlund - 116 points (89 ES, 20 PP, 7 SH) in 214 games (0.54)
I wont be surprised if both will produce there (Calgary).

If we draft top 3 I will be happy that we moved both. We need to unload as many as possible for the right return.

Anyone have the rumored video of iginla laughing that we didn’t ask for a first? I can see that being true but I can’t find it.

Trade was probably made to protect emperor torts from his amazing teaching move of benching michkov
Like news outlets (at least used to) have prepared obituaries written in advance for famous people, I am certain that San Filippo and the other Anthony have saved explanations on their computers for why the Flyers had to trade Michkov.

The positive I will take, is it helps get a higher pick this year.

What people should fear most, is this front office with cap space to play around with in UFA land. The UFA list is ass ugly next summer, and they are going to dive into it. Bet your ass on that.

The real repercussions of this trade won’t be felt until we see what they spend the cap space on.

Got me thinking who do I even care about on this current roster. It was always a team fan to be first, then the last 10 years this organization did everything to make the players the more likeable part of the equation... and now, its basically.. who for me? York, Sanheim. Konecny.
Attachment to 3 players and 0 f***s given about the franchise. Phi management did marvelous job

They should have been sheltering him from Rocky Thompson.

Really bad value for us, I guess we can hope to flip kuzmenko at the deadline for anything really, and then have plenty of cap space (I hope we don't use it yet) but really bad value trade, Danny loses another trade

I don’t give a single solitary shit if they tank or not. I want signs that there is a coherent plan. I was fine Offer Sheeting Pettersson. I don’t care if they trade Michkov as long as the return makes sense.

A coherent plan is not what they did with Gauthier, last year’s earlyish 1st, the Edmonton boondoggle, or this obsession with culture. I want a reason to believe they get it. That their top-down process is sound. Even if it doesn’t work out, that’s fine. It happens.
Way to go, Jojo, you made the Narrator's Voice cry. I hope you're pleased with yourself.

Not really. I mean Farabee isn't as good as Laughton at LW right now.
Frost was a 3C playing in the top 6. They weren't going to pay real money to keep him around.

They should have got a better return, but neither player was in their future plans.

Kuzmenko - Couts - Michkov
Foerster - Cates - Brink
Tippett - Laughton - TK
Pelletier/Abols - Poehling - Hathaway

Now the real question is what's next.

Making this trade now signals Briere has written off this season, and is open for business, so I won't be surprised if Laughton and Risto are traded, maybe Hathaway, Poehling, and Seeler might waive his NTC to go to the playoffs.

The whole “inconsistent” thing will stick with me forever with regards to Frost.

Basically every player in the NHL is inconsistent except for the stars in the way that they mean it.

And they used it for every other player ran out from here. "Inconsistent, always has been" "Got inconsistent as he got older" ....
Lamest and laziest talking point to feed the public discourse.
