Confirmed with Link: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee traded to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Some of the homies still watch the dumpster fire out of apathy, some of the homies are still holding on for hope. The organization doesn't deserve your attention. They don't deserve your time or your family's time. Have they reciprocated anything to the fan base in the last decade plus? All they give are the generic hockey guy platitudes and BSB mentality. Regurgitated hires for head coaches. Draft picks that follow their style of players that probably don't get you anywhere near the Cup and put you in sports purgatory which is being a middling team. Mayhaps it's time for the holdout homies to ponder the question: Does this franchise deserve my loyalty and fandom after the last decade plus of futility?

It's like watching a friend who has quit smoking 8 times. You can't do anything about it.

I can't see any justification for this other than freeing up cap space for the summer. But why? I'm just having difficulty with the strategy given the teams current talent level and performance

I very rarely post anything because this place is a cesspit of negativity. But holy shit, I’ve been converted. I’m not even mad at the trade return. Frost and Farbabee are fine. But they werent getting anything of real value back. We see them day to day. I’m mad at the fact that we have ZERO talent on this team and at most 3-5 guys with real trade value. But instead of hiring a coach that can improve each players individual offensive play, we hire a coach that wants to minimize creativity and play a checking style that sucks the personality out of every single player. We squeak out just enough wins to not get the exceptional talent, but play such a boring hockey to get them. I’d rather watch the TGL on a random weekday night. No player, has improved their individual offensive skill since TORTS has been here. we would be much better served, over the last couple of years, to have a coach that played an offensive style, and I tried to get these players better individually. At least in that case, we would be entertaining to watch, lose more, and each player would have better value when it came to trades. We have the exact inverse of that. We are literally living through hell.

Great point. Have we ever heard anything from the coaching staff about wanting to improve a players offensive play? No. Its always "their game away from the puck". When they talk about offense....its always stuff like "we want them making plays or up in the play"... never any instruction on how to get better.

Imagine a staff that looked at a players offensive tools and then taught them how to maximize on them...

I can just imagine how the end of the trade conversation went:

Craig: so, my 2 guys and a 2nd for Farabee and Frost?

Danny: we’ll also need a 2nd in 26

Craig: no

Danny: um, a 4th in 27?

Craig: no

Danny: how bout a 6th in 28?

Craig: Fine, a 7th in 28 it is.

Danny: DEAL!
You found the elusive moving part all the experts were mentioning!

There is never justification for getting a shit return, unless you somehow find yourself bent over a barrel. They weren’t here.

This trade is a marvel. They got older and less talented and didn’t bring back anything of note in exchange for the downgrade.

Honestly, the only way I accept this trade is if it's an actual means to tank for Hagens.

Flyers have basically no more center depth. They had center issues and traded their current best one for this...
The flyers don't believe in centers. They refer to them as "wingers that take face offs" in house.

They what every great rebuilding team does, which is wait to trade your assets when their value has reached a nadir.

Hey that 7th round pick in 2028 is going to put them over the top...

I bailed watching 2 years ago. A shame that after being a fan for over 40 years, it came to that. But here we are.

This is a crack pipe take. Holy shit.
With Farabee and Frost in the lineup, they scored (check my notes) 0 goals the last two games.
How can they be worse with them gone?

Watching Farabee, I don't think there's much upside left, don't know if it was the neck injury, but two years later he's a 3LW who does nothing wrong but little that stands out. This is not Sharp who was buried and never got a chance, this is a guy who started for six years.

Same with Frost, who started for four years. What you see is probably what you get.

They'll be a nice 3rd line for a team fighting to get into the playoffs.

But it's obvious Briere is selling, and they are not top 6 forwards in a rebuild.

Just wish the return was better.

You realize that is the board’s ENTIRE problem with this, right?

The thing I don’t get about this board is that people here have been clamoring for a tank job and when the Flyers make what looks to be a horrible trade, they don’t see the silver lining that maybe this is the goal. Maybe Briere has come to the understanding that the team needs to finish bottom 5 -7 to get a top center in the draft either through lottery luck, packaging picks to move into the top 5.
The move also clears cap space for the off season and beyond. I believe both JP and AK contracts run out this year.
Trying to look at this positively, this could be a cap dump and tank in one move.
I’m looking for the best. My wife says I am a pessimist, a glass half empty guy. I say I am a pragmatist. I wonder if she still would think of me as a pessimist after reading this board LOL.
Let’s all hope that they are tanking and clearing space for something wonderful to come.
