Did anyone hear that Miller and Trocheck were "best friends" before the Miller to nyr stuff started? Now with the narrative its like they have been inseparable for decades yet its never been talked about until recently. It's clear they are friends but the media has made this out to be more than it is, and what about Drury this year makes you think he doesn't have the guts to rip someone's heart out? This entire season has been married with that.
It’s been mentioned many times that miller and Trocheck are best friends, and they confirmed it literally right after the trade happened. I also don’t think Drury wants to trade Trocheck since he seems to want to build the team around players of that archetype. Maybe he would have the guts either way I doubt he trades him.

He has been bad this year, about ten games in I brought up that last year was also the most games Trocheck has played in a single season and the most minutes per game he has played. I think Trocheck is running on fumes this year. It was than extremely short summer for him as well.
I mean that excuse can used for literally all of the players no?

He's not going to make it through this season healthy. The playoffs seem less and less realistic and at a certain point after the deadline, they will start to consider shutting guys down if they dont get into the race. I think its a good time to start getting a few of the young hartford guys to the NHL. They could also really use center depth at the deadline.
The rangers are not shutting players down until they are eliminated. My comment was an acquiring team (avs) could give him a few weeks for his finger to heal and rest up.

Panarin yes. Mika was one of our best players defensively today.

I dont get the love/excuses for Trocheck. He is literally one of the worst players in 2025.
So to understand these charts (just picking out a few players):
- Borgen did some good things defensively as an individual, but while he was on the ice our team defensive was below average and our team offense was woeful
- Laf didn't do a single individual defensive thing
- Cuylle didn't do anything god as individual defensively but the team was very good when he was on
is that how it all works?

1-3-1 with a hybrid man-on-man. No one's sure where to go. Is it the hybrid? Is it the 1 D back who has to be the "centerfielder"? Is it the constant zone-flying and lack of back check by the forwards? Is it the stretch pass being the only zone out option?

Is it all of these?

I’ve never seen you this upset before will. You used to be such a jovial guy.

f*** the rangers.

I have my sights set on @SnowblindNYR and his Angriest Poster title.

No, I'm just beside myself at how bad it's become. It's not just losing but how they're losing. And even how they manage to win like today. I'm hate-watching at this point.

I don't think they're talented enough to play much of any system.

The lack of effort is astounding

I don't think I'm the same context. Trocheck for his career didn't have a ton of full seasons until recently due to injuries and his minutes were almost 21.30 per game last year which is very high, especially for a player that's playing a lot of grind minutes and not necessarily easy floating minutes. Trocheck works his ass off which is part of why we like him and he's more than his skills would suggest. I'd rather keep him here but the roster construction and timeline is a mess. There is no staggering of age/drop-off at center. If they could move Mika for some sort of value that would change a lot of things but it's not likely.

Pretty much bud.

Like I said, the Miller Trocheck friendship wasn't even a thing in the media until the Miller to nyr rumors started, even when they played each other in the past. I'm just saying it's being blown up now bc it's a good pr piece in a disaster of a season. I don't think that just bc they are friends that would preclude Drury from trading Trocheck for the right return.

It's atrocious. It's like getting straight F's on a report card in every major area of the game, and maybe a D is squeezed in there because someone felt sorry.

I guess we have to disagree on Trocheck working his ass off. He is one of the most lazy players defensively and always out of position.

Honestly, if the Rangers were a playoff team, and the vibe around here was a little less negative, I do think there would be a lot more posts about how absolutely awful the officials were today. Not just the refs, but the linesmen were either ignorant or had money on Pittsburgh in the second period.

Pittsburgh was offside at least six times and the puck crossed the blue line multiple times during their caving the Rangers.

I'm not absolving the abysmal Ranger effort in the second period, but there was also some serious ice tilting taking place that seemed to be missed or chalked up to the dominance.

As for this sell, sell, sell stuff, who can legitimately be sold for any kind of a return? I'm not disagreeing that players need to go, I'm just trying to think rationally of what returns are out there for declining players on huge contracts.

One is easy to trade for good value despite a clause, one you will need to really work at to trade and has a nmc. Very different situations.
understood but not trading Trocheck then. Unless we get a ridiculous return which I doubt.

I think he's an effort player. Nothing comes easy for him. I agree he struggle defensively at times but I think you should consider that Panarin has been his winger for an extended period, and Panarin is an absolute joke in his own end. Also his other winger seems to be cheating to the neutral zone more often than being in position in his own zone. Laffy has been a mess defensively. Not absolving Trocheck but it's hard to play defense as a center with two wingers that are completely unreliable defensively.

I don't see it. She asks ok questions, nothing earth shattering and she says thank you in foreign languages. I cannot stand her tone of voice. It's this high pitch 16 year old valley girl thing she does when she speaks. She legit doesn't sound like a professional.

She has strong sources within the Rangers organization. She is often the first on many trades.

Trocheck said he's my best friend in the world. We saw a photo of them drinking light beers at some summer show together.

I don't know why the extra adjective "light" made this laugh out loud. As opposed to drinking heavier IPAs that can make them feel discomfort and even mood swings for Miller?
