I don't disagree, but that's probably the extent of the type of moves he's going to make before the deadline

Im fine with not buying unless its for a center or left D-man under contract beyond this year. Trading forwards would ideally open up spots for Berard and Othmann the rest of the way.

I'm pretty sure Panarin was not one of the people moping around when they let Goodrow and Trouba go. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even know their names. He just decided that 120 points last season was enough trying in his career.
I don’t think it’s effort for Panarin. His skating is at the point where if he can gather speed and the puck in stride he has a hard time getting going. It’s why his playmaking is suffering, he’s not able to make plays like he used to. Gotta remember he’s 33 he’s not a young guy anymore. It sucks and I love the guy. But last season was his last hurrah as an elite top of the league player.

In some twisted world, if the Matthew tkachuk injury is bad enough for ltir then could the Panthers have the space to make a trade happen if nyr retains 50 percent? His friendship with bobrovsky could be something to help make that happen. I also go back to the hurricanes again, if they cannot resign rantanen and decide to flip him then will a deal involving bread make sense for everyone? Not sure what kind of return would be realistic but keeping Panarin here w the way he is playing and this environment is bad for both sides.

I still think the rangers should keep an eye on cozens but if buffalo trades him I think they will try to make it happen to the Western conference. Thats how they like to operate with those kinds of moves. Cozens is a guy that could slot nicely at center with a threesome of Miller cozens and Trocheck or another 3c.

Im more open to Schneider for Cozens than I've been. He's a good fit with the young wings we have comeing up and he's at least capable of putting up points.

Id retain on Panarin to get Lundell or Luotsairanen

People should keep an eye on Trocheck. He's not a guy nyr wants to trade but out of the garbage on this roster he might be the most valuable to a contender right now based on his contract. His age puts him in a weird position bc having Trocheck and Miller in their young 30s for a non-playoff team walks them both towards decline at the same time, not to mention zib is in the same situation based on age/performance.

He Trocheck and Cuylle are the only top 9 forwards who show up every night so far

Agree 100%. Trocheck is clearly fighting multiple injuries, but he has been much more effective than Kreider. JT prob sprained his wrist and was still throwing hits and didnt miss a shift.

It's like what @will1066 said about Mika. Over the years our top players have been physical only to do the bare minimum and "dot the T's" of whats required. JT and Cuylle are 1/3 of a future top 6 who will go to the areas need and play with the intensity needed to beat teams like Tampa and Florida and Washington. You can't come in half-cocked.

Going back to Trocheck, his contract will look great as he ages into a 3rd line character guy with the cap going up. Id like to see JT, Trocheck and Cuylle with the letters next year.

He should be available but I don’t think the rangers have the guts to do so after bringing in his best friend.

With him clearly nursing a hand injury,I would be shocked if anyone would want to trade for him

The Rangers would never have two guys perceived as offensive defensemen.
Is that kind of voodoo even allowed???

They did it with Trouba and Skjei after 3 months. Rangers are among the most ruthless teams in the league over the years. This season is no different.

That being said I wouldnt trade him outside of a big haul. He does a lot of little things that the rest of our team doesnt that will make him effective as he ages.
