More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

Yea, he can produce with Raanta, he can produce with Nescas.... Anyone.

MacKinnon's most common linemates are Raanta/Necas - Lehkonen, Draisaitl most common linemates are Arvidsson- Podkolzin ;)

I dunno, kinda seems like his most common linemates are McDavid and Hyman. The GF column is pretty telling on who he produces most of his numbers with.

Current Hart Odds (FanDuel)
Leon -150
Helle +135
MacK +850
Kuch +5500

I am not even shilling for Kucherov to win it, but this tells me one of two things:

A: Vegas is undervaluing Kuch severely and taking him to win the Hart would be a great value bet

B: The PHWA has a serious problem and it is starting to look and feel like anti-Kucherov/anti-Russian bias. Unless MacKinnon does end up taking home the Ross, there is legitimately zero way he should have a better chance than Kucherov, especially THAT much better
He's over 30, Russian and a winger. Those things don't matter to you, me or the Hart trophy, but they do for the people who vote for it, who are not exactly society's greatest minds. He has no chance at all.

None of the above.

The Hart should go to Ovechkin for being the most valuable player to the entire NHL this season.

LIES! 50% with McDavid is better than 100% with anyone.

The amount of people here who cannot differentiate the difference between the Art Ross and the Hart is astounding. Give it to Helle just to make people cry more at this point.

Drai easily wins it even with the injury.

In fact, the injuries make his case stronger. The Oilers are dookie without him.

MacKinnon has been ruled out for tonight against Vancouver. One step closer to a 3rd Art Ross trophy for Nikita Kucherov.
Actually, he's reportedly likely to just sit out all 3 of the Avs remaining games to rest some bumps and bruises. If anyone needed evidence that he doesn't give a shit about the Art Ross, there it is.

You seem bitter. He would’ve lost anyways. Kucherov is controlling his destiny with the last 2 games between the 2 teams.

It’s a good scenario for MacKinnon. Instead of losing fair and square for a 2nd time in a row to Kuch, he can use the injury excuse and can pull the “I don’t care about the Ross” card.

Well Kucherov will have played like 3-4 fewer games so he has more per game anyway - MacKinnon essentially had already lost. The part about me being bitter seems more like projection from you  all I said were facts and I promise I don't have any emotional investment in who wins Art Ross - do you? It's just a reg season award

You’re fooling yourself if you think a competitor like MacKinnon doesn’t care about winning a scoring title, especially for the first time. If he’s sitting out the last couple of games, it's because his injury can worsen by playing or/and the team simply wants to be cautious.

That's weird, because the coach himself said this: "He's dealing with something," Colorado coach Jared Bednar said. "I think you get to this point in the year, all these guys are dealing with something. The guys that didn't get the break, too, for the 4 Nations [Face-Off]. This has been a tough stretch of games since then, right? I think rest is part of it, though." - that's like right at the top of the NHL.com article

Any other theories you'd like to try?

I remember when Peter Forsberg won the Hart and Ross, a reporter asked him what he thought about winning the awards. His response was essentially "I'd trade them both for the Cup in a heartbeat." That's what true competitors care about.

Damn true competitors Avalanche who've only gone out of the 2nd round once in the Mackinnon years. Truly competitors of all time.
