More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Hellybuyck , needs to be in this conversation :) He almost won the Vezina unanimously last year by 1 vote.
And his record is better this year.

If we remove

The top 4 hart finalize from their team.
And see how their team stack up without that player.

How is the shift going to be? Obviously its going to be bad but how bad?

Hopefully he gets in the conversation but would rather have him win the ConnSmyth instead. :)

Pretty much choose your favourite player. They are all deserving. Draisaitl stands out because of goals but Helly should get a nod. Phenomenal what he’s doing in Winnipeg

More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

Nathan Mackinnon: 73 Games — 29 Goals — 78 Assists — 107 Points
Nikita Kucherov: 68 Games — 32 Goals — 73 Assists — 105 Points
Leon Draisaitl: 68 Games — 49 Goals — 52 Assists — 101 Points

At this time last year - were asking similar questions, with McDavid instead of Drai.

Flip a coin last year - flip a coin this year. They are all having stellar seasons, and can all 3 be argued as MVP. If any of those 3 won should season end today, I'd think to myself "wow, good for him, great season".

Personally - I'd like to see Kucherov win it, because I felt he often gets overlooked in award voting. He should have at least 1 smythe (possibly 2), and I had him as the favorite for the hart in both 2018 and 2024, and he lost both of them. So seeing him win this year would be great.

I think MacKinnon will likely lose out if either Kuch or Drai pass him in points. As much as voters may have played favorites for MacKinnon last year (he had never won a hart before), I think the reverse might happen here, and they may look to not give him the hart 2 years in a row.

Defensemen never get their due when it comes to the Hart, unless the circumstances line up in their favor.

Had MackInnon been hurt this year, Maker would get a lot more attention for the Hart.
Pretty much. The major awards are more or less for forwards only. Really dumb if you ask me.

Its MacKinnon vs Helle at this point. The Jets have been so dominant all year, I could see him getting it, but then also easily can argue Mac with all the adversity the Avalanche faced and still dominating.

They had an updated version of this on the ESPN feed last night, but I think this was it

Avs - 47
Sharks - 41
Penguns - 40
Preds - 39

Thats not even close and obviously can tell the difference in quality of teams there and the Avalanche should not be doing as well as they are.

Too early to call.

Edmonton is 3rd in the Pacific... could easily grab home-ice for round 1, could also easily be surpassed (in points) by the two wildcard.

Colorado is 3rd in the Central by a margin, but can they close or erase that margin to get home ice? Would be huge.

Tampa is 3rd in the Atlantic... but could easily win the whole division.

If Tampa wins the division, for example, with Kucherov continuing his dominant play... that bolsters his case significantly.
