@Robert Gordon Orr - you sure that photo's isnt from 51 featuring Pilsbury Dough Boy with his head on a swivel Gene Achtymichuk? Goalie's Gerry McNeil, not Jacques Plante... who are you trying to kid Mistet?.... Last guy who tried something like that on me... seersucker suit, white viny loafers & matching belt..... BAM!.... shovel to the face... buried him in a park..... out back of his used car lot in Bakersfield. Ha? Smarten up. Love the photo's though so your forgiven.... Carry on. o_O ... and no, no I havent seen that photo of Ace Bailey before. Wonderful. Very Dapper. Doubt he owned a seersucker suit, Ace..... Eddie Shore on the other hand, ya, damn straight he likely did.... but just the pants. Blood all over the coat having killed the guy wearing it.... with a shovel..... why let a perfectly good pair of pants go to waste? Right size & everything. Atta Boy Eddie.

The December 25, 1957 pic is misidentified.

Pre Christmas 1955. Goalie is Jacques Plante. #24 is Bob Turner - his number initially. Leaf is Earl Balfour. Harvey and Moore also visible.

Thank you Canadiens1958 for the clarification.

Turner did not play his first NHL game until December 31, 1955 so it can't be from Pre Christmas 1955.
Maybe January 18, 1956 was the date. That was the only time during the 1955/56 season that match the above information. Turner also played in Toronto on February 29, but in that game Balfour didn't play.

^^^ Nice grouping of images RGO..... Interesting to see the Wings & Leafs both playing in their dark uniforms. In 1950, the NHL mandated that the Home team wear dark, Visitors White in order to provide the proper contrast for film, cameras.

1996 – Fans tossing plastic rats onto the ice. Vanbiesbrouck looks a bit worried that there might be a live one among them

This is such a great photo in context. Vanbiesbrouck had just stood on his head for 5 1/2 periods before surrendering the Cup-winning goal. Because it was a 1-0 final, the Panthers fans in the building sat on those rats for probably six hours with no chance to throw them. When the game ended, they finally let all their rats loose in one last hurrah of their Cinderella run. So there you have the dejected Beezer, having played the game of a lifetime, looking down at the empty celebration of a win that never happened.

Malcolm Gordon at top left, who later also coached Hobey Baker when he came through St. Paul's School.

The guy sitting at the right in the front row is Eben Byers, a Pittsburgh native socialite, athlete and industrialist who had a few high finishes as a golf player in the United States Amateur Championship, winning it all in 1906. He also became famous later on in his life for drinking/consuming enormous amounts of Radithor (because of an injured arm), a patent quackery medicine (manufactured by one William J. A. Bailey) consisting of radium dissolved in water.

Because of the high amounts of Radithor Byers took (nearly 1,400 bottles, almost 4 per day over a 3 year period) he lost almost his entire jaw, his brain was also abscessed, and holes had begun forming in his skull. He died in 1932 (aged 51) around 2 years after stopping taking Radithor and approximately 5 years after starting taking it, and the cause of death was due to multiple radiation-induced cancers.

He is buried at Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh in a lead-lined radiation shielded coffin.

Ray Bourque was out with an injury. Crowder who normally wore the A, then got to wear the C in Bourque's absence (sprained ligaments in his knee).
Thanks. I figured it had to do with Bourque being injured, but I didn't realize they ever physically stitched a C on an A's chest when the C was out.
