One of those players is Jack Gibson, a HHOFer and famous from the IHL (1906–07). The guy to the right of Gibson is opera singer Charles "Carlo" Boehmer who was a friend of Enrico Caruso and gave concerts in Italy and South America.

Good observation there. Let us not forget about the Seagram brothers in this photo, Edward and Joseph, sons of Joseph Emm Seagram, founder of Seagram's (Whisky). Many years later his company was the largest owner of alcoholic beverage lines in the world. Edward was the president of the company in the 1920s after his father died. Needless to say that both brothers were extremely wealthy back in the days.

Mohican Isthmian Champion Hockey Team 1889 at St.Paul's School, Concord, NH.

This was the First Hockey team the Isthmians ever had 1888-9 "Mohican" MKG(Malcolm Kenneth Gordon) Capt" written in pen on the bottom half of the back of the photo.

Weird on this photo is, that only 2 guys are watching directly to photograph.

I often wonder about this with old team photos. I imagine the photographer having to point at each guy and say, "you look left, you look right, you look straight at the camera, you look left... no, YOUR left... you, look kind of vaguely at the floor"

I wonder if there was some sort of guideline they followed as to what was the "right" way to arrange them?

This is the first known photo of hockey players in uniform.

The 1877 McGill team was the first organized hockey team. In theory, this photo could potentially show someone who was involved in the events of 1877. Especially the fellow on the right who is presumably a referee or coach of some sort. Certainly, most of the fellows in that picture would have known members of the '77 team and would have been understudies to them.
