Maybe the Moose are tanking for a high draft pick.
Moose last regular season game is April 19th. April 18th NHL playoffs start, Jets might not be until the 19th or 20th. Timing is good to add more players to the playoff roster.

Sorry folks posted this in prospects thread but update on Elias Salomonsson was he's gonna be out for at least a couple of weeks (which is better than how it looked last Friday).

Game was closer than 6-3 but Moose lose sixth straight:

Do you have an update on Zhilkin?

Lucius and Lambert started together this game? Lucius and Tyrel Bauer got torched by Samuel Honzek. That's a good prospect in the Flames organization. Mason Shaw looks like he is trying to play for a 4th line callup.

Arena looked empty. AHL should only play weekends if they want to draw any crowds.

Moose are having such a tough season and I don’t think that helps with Wednesday night crowds when it’s minus 25 out either.

I don't have twitter, but according to Jets twitter account Henri Nikkanen waived for the purpose of contract termination.

Guess he wanted to go back to Finland.

Wonder if Torgersson is dropped next.
Torgersson played last night. Might want to keep him around to integrate Wagner, who has also sat a lot since being brought over. Maybe has some minimal trade value, if he gets a shot in another organization.

Just thinking out loud here but the Moose have started horribly the last two years and they’re just getting dummied.

There has been such a consistent approach with the Moose with Zinger and now Morrison… when do they look at a change? Not a lot of good down there.

Pretty sure Heisinger has a golden ticket to work for True North until he retires, for some reason. Morrison has been a little disappointing as coach, but not awful... 3 playoff appearances in 3 seasons as HC but no playoff series wins. Looks like they will probably miss the playoffs altogether this season but the reality is that this roster is weak, especially on defence, so I'm not sure how much is fair to put on the coach. I do have to wonder, if we'd had Lucius full time and Fleury and/or Coghlan on defence, the Moose might be in a better spot. On D they just really need someone other than Salo who can get stops in their end and make a solid first pass.

Zhilkin was pushing to return for the final two games of the homestand but wasn't quite ready. Mark said "he's close" but not "game ready" back on Dec 5th. They practice today in BC so possible he plays tomorrow night against the Canucks.

No surprise that Nikkanen is heading back to Finland.

I think the change starts next year by adding more talent. Especially if they being Freij over to play with Salomonsson. Yager, Barlow, Julien add more talent. A healthy Lucius and Zhilkin can contribute more you would hope.

For me it starts on defense. I don't see a lot of value from players like Bauer or Sauntner on defense. Zinger finds the odd college player looking for an opportunity, but the defense is suffering from lack of quality picks to work with and that's Chevy's job. So far he also wants to keep waiver eligible d-men off the wire, and that's a decision that makes sense organizationally.

Systems wise Chibrikov and Lambert seemed to be prepared for the jump so that's one part coaching, and probably the most important measure of success for a farm team, regardless of the results.

Milic is a big reason for some of those Ls, and maybe he's not the starter next season, with a better team in front of the goalie

I wonder how long the Moose stick with Eric Dubois.

Back to back losses to Abbotsford this weekend, 3-0 last night and 4-0 tonight. Something is rotten in Mooseville
Moose defense for this game:

Sauntner-Lundmark
Anhorn-Barteaux
Sword-Bauer

Moose have been trying Lucius and Lambert together on this road trip. Combined for 3 shots in 2 games this weekend.

Apart from the 2nd pairing there are no defensemen that can push the play towards the offensive zone, let alone maintain pressure when they get there.

If anyone wants to watch lowlights of the last game, here they are, they are worse than the score.

I think you have to ask why guys like Lambert, JAD, Lundmark all had impressive enough training camps with the Jets and they can't get anything done at the AHL level.

Maybe it is coaching. In their 25th anniversary this Moose team might be worst team they've ever had.

Moose weren't supposed to skate but held one today as they try to pull themselves out of the losing streak:

Full report here.

Media:

Thanks Dave.

Looks like they are trying to get Lambert and Lucius going, probably the two best prospects up front. Who haven't practiced at all together. Nice to see Zhilkin back with the team. Those players should improve the talent level of the group. Torgersson and AJF had some chemistry last game, probably the bright spots.

Getting Salomonsson back after Christmas is good news too.

Maybe Di Vincentiis takes over in goal once the top prospects are all playing again.

Try to have a second half like last season.
