Sure, but they still play a grinding energy game which may not mesh as well. Sometimes a career AHL skill guy fits better stylistically.
That whole lineup seems small. Last year Malott did some heavy lifting offensively. You had Viel as a power grinding forward. The guys like Ford and Shaw have a nose for the net, they play bigger than their stature, but I wonder if there is some trouble maintaining possession with some of those smaller guys? That's where JAD and Lucius (if he plays regularly) could be factors. Might explain Kevin Conley moving up to Lambert's line?

There could be something to that as well. You usually need different types unless you have players who are so skilled it doesn't matter. I don't think that's Chibrikov who projects as a middle 6 player. Lambert I hope starts to impose his will on teams and starts to take over games. I think he has the talent to do so, but might not be physically ready yet.

Yeah I get what you're saying. A guy like Alex Limoges who was great here in that role for a couple years. You're right we don't have anyone like that right now.

Watching the Moose and they are just getting killed. It's like a reverse of the Jets game earlier today.

Honestly they didn't do a very good job bringing in enough pieces to support our kids. Most of the vets on the team are incredibly mediocre.

Lambert is having a real off game, just misfiring on his passes and trying to force things that aren't there.

Chobrikov hasn't been noticeable.

Edit:

Probably the worst game I've seen the Moose play. If it wasn't for DiVincentiis it would have been 7 or 8 to 2.

They couldn't get out of their end, nor could they stay out of the box.

They may need to put Lambert and Chibrikov on the same line as neither is playing with enough talent atm.

Salomonsson looked solid and showed good board play and breakout ability.

Moose slide continues as Stars hand them sixth loss in last seven game:

But then 17 seconds later they were behind again. And then this.

Special teams continue to haunt this club. While the PP isn't getting it done the PK has been particularly bad.

Game recap here.
Just looking through stats Moose had 7 AHL contracts playing in this game. That may be a testament to the lack of depth from a scarcity of draft picks.

Might have JAD and Lucius back for next game, and that would help for skill level. One likely plays with Lambert and the other with Chibrikov. The two prospects didn't have a lot of chemisty together in the Young Stars, I imagine that's what is keeping them apart.

Nice to hear about Salomonsson. But there's another guy who isn't surrounded by a talented complementary player. At least Kuzmin had a good game, from the boxscore perspective.

This was the first time Di Vincentiis got the opening start on the back to backs, so I guess that's 1A. If he got the start in the next game that would be the first back to back start for any Moose goalie this year.

Looks like the game got chippy, especially in the 3rd period.

DiVincentiis was shelled yesterday so my guess is we see Milic today.

I'll try to catch this one as well, hopefully they play much better.

Ben King with another goal tonight.

Of all the AHL-contract players on the Moose, he’s the one I might like the Jets to sign.

Moose played pretty well through 2 and then collapsed hard in the third.

Team is clearly not confident in certain situations. It's like Noone knows what they are supposed to do on the pp. Slow movement, indecisiveness or forced shots. I see little semblance of a plan or execution and this is with them getting a pp goal.

Milic made some excellent saves but he puts himself out of position or flops around to do so. He needs to get his movement down, he's far too scrambly right now. He's getting picked apart this year because he's giving up too much of the net.

Salmonsson had a nice game. His skills where on display tonight. Very good puck rushing and breakouts and he is showing the ability to get his shot through in different game states. Kids got a lot of potential.

Lundmark, had a nice and tidy game up until coughing it up at the blueline for the first EN goal against.

They put JAD with Lambert and Chibrikov and I thought he helped both of them as he has the smarts and enough skill to play with talent.

While better I find Lambert is really trying to force things because he's just aimlessly putting pucks from everywhere towards the net even if there is no lane to get his shot through or if there are better passing options. He still has to really work on his shot. Pretty ordinary release and velocity and a lot is going right into the goalies bread basket right now. What he did well was using his speed to disrupt play and his transition game was good.

Chibrikov was up and down in terms of his puck control. He made some excellent rushes and picked his spots better for shooting. He was also good a long boards.

You are describing a pretty poorly coached team.

I was considering putting just that as well. But they played much better last year with the same coaching so I am also considering it might be a talent issue.

I haven't watched them, but you aren't the only one describing a group of individuals rather than a team. Exactly the opposite of the Jets, oddly.

Moose were expected to be pretty good this year, based on talent.

It very well could be a coaching issue and id imagine coaching needs to be better, but i also think there is a pretty big confidence issue as well. I also dont think they have near the same balanced lineup as the Jets. The Moose really dont have any real puck moving/offensive dmen. Salomonsson is really a two way guy who focuses more on his defense 5 on 5, and all the rest are defensive dmen with the exception of Kuzmin who hasnt been able to translate his offense to the AHL. We've seen the Jets have similar stretches in the past. They just looked a lot better when I watched them a couple weeks ago.

Upfront its like @voyageur said not a lot of size. I also don't see a lot of skill outside Lambert and Chibrikov and both of them are fighting confidence right now.

If I was Zinger I'd be looking at getting a fee quality AHL forwards and a good vet all around dmen to play with Salomonsson.

He wasn’t listed on the proposed game lineup. Did he start the game?

No idea, started tuning in halfway through the period. It's possible he never started and the AHL site just has the game sheet wrong.

As for the game, Salomonsson is a stud Snerg 2.0.

Milic getting beat up high on both goals due to dropping to his knees way to soon and giving up the top of the net. He's not a big goalie and can't afford to give more net to shoot at.
