Hoping Condon has an easy game so he's fresh enough to start tomorrow as well; don't really want to see Tokarsky if we don't have to. Lets see if the Habs can continue their winning ways from last game.

It's really the most interesting part about tonight's game. Which condon are we going to get? Edit: seeing Holloway for his first NHL game is also interesting, I admit.

Hopefully, he just needed a mental recharge more than anything else to get back on track.

Unless condon stinks it up tonight, I see him getting both starts.

I think pateryn kind of forced MT's hand. He has been impressive.

If Pateryn is regularly in the lineup, yes.

But, there is no indication that they value Pateryn over Gilbert right now and that's who should have been sitting to get Pateryn some playing time. I don't think Pateryn is in a position to force much of anything until another injury or trade happens. Certainly agree with you, Pateryn has been a huge positive.

There was a time where even a b2b situation would not get pateryn back in, so its at least some progress.

Only thing that puts a damper on extrapolating from Pateryn getting in on a b2b is the proximity to Emelin's return from the DL.

I suppose. However, I don't see why the habs would feel the need to rush emelin back in at this stage of the season. I assume they waited until he was 100% before bringing him in.

Then I guess the question arises that maybe it's just a fitness thing coming off of IR, but I can't think of a similar case occurring under this regime.

When is Tinordi going to play ? I still believe in him, a fast skating 6'6 physical Dman. Last year he was injuried, then he hasn't played a single game this year. It's not as if he could shine within his style during training camp.

Tinordi is fast-skating?

Bergevin has to be shoppin Gilbert around? I mean, I like our depth on defense, but if we need to alternate between Emelin and Pateryn, while Tinordi is sent down... :help:

He should play vs Rocherster tonight or Saturday/Sunday vs Toronto

In the GDT MiG has Pateryn with Petry and Beau with Gilbert. Is that a mistake or is it confirmed? I thought Beau and Petry looked dominant together.

We all scratched our heads when Rene Bourque and Travis Moen were playing so much last year, patience.

Holloway was quiet in pre-season, hopefully he got used to NA rinks and he's ready to make some noise.

Gilbert really isn't as bad as Habs fan make him out to be. I could see him being a #4 guy on a few teams in the league.

To be honest, I really don't get why he's ragged on so much. He's not perfect, but he's a luxury to have as a bottom pairing guy.

The bottom pairing on the habs has been so good the last 2 seasons that we actually have forgotten how bad #5-6 d-men can be.

Easy, DD, DSP and Emelin have had good seasons and everyone else is playing just as well.

The only way for the standards to release hfhabs venom and cynicism is by picking one, and that's Gilbert for now.

I definitely like him as a no.5-6. He's a solid d man, he can hit if he needs, he seems to clear the net pretty well and has a decent pass. He really doesn't commit many errors overall for a depth guy.

I'd rather see Tokarski a couple games instead of burning Condon out again. He's not ready to assume a starters load, and it showed in his last stint by game 7 in a row, where he looked as bad, if not worse, than Tokarski.

Even if Tokarski lets in 3 goals, the way our offence has been going, we still have a chance to win. I'd put Condon in for 3-4 games, then sit him for one.

He's trying to move Tinordi I would imagine. Gilbert is probably going to be the extra by the end of the year, just like Weaver ended up being last year.

Markov-Subban
Beaulieu-Petry
Emelin-Pateryn

That's what we go into the playoffs with. God help whoever skates through the neutral zone with their head down vs. that bottom pairing.

I agree this should be our d-squad come playoffs time. Having Gilbert as an extra is nice, but that's a lot of money for an extra.

Even Emelin on the bottom pairing is not really cost-effective. But at least it's not that bad. I remember when we had Gomez on the 4th line.
