It's fun to dream, and the team looks like it's finally turning a corner with the right mix of young talent with tons of prospects on the way, like Beck, Davidson, Roy, Fowler, Hage.

I think they'd have the right assets to interest the Pens if Crosby had any desire to finish out his career with his childhood team. And yes I know, it's pretty much a 0 or 1% chance he moves.
To be fair the article isn’t speculating they will go after Crosby, he’s saying it’s his opinion that they should go after him

Also the proposal they're making is hilarious:

"His proposal would include two quality prospects not from the group that includes Hobey Baker nominees Jacob Fowler and Michael Hage, injured defenceman David Reinbacher and Ivan Demidov — perhaps Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux, packed with the two first-rounders the Canadiens hold in the coming draft."

Oh boy, 2 fringe top-100 prospects and 2 mid 1sts. How exciting of an offer. At least if you're going to be making crazy unrealistic targets, don't also make silly trade proposals to get those targets.

Habs were his favorite team growing up. If he ever decided he wanted out of Pittsburgh, I imagine it'd only be to go to Montreal. But he's made no indication that he wants out.

In other "news":

The year is 2049. Sidney Crosby has retired to a quiet life in Nova Scotia as a 62 year old hockey legend. Meanwhile on HFboards, a rumor grows that Sid is coming out of retirement to finally lead a Canadian team to a Stanley Cup for the first time in 56 years.

You got me. Didn't realize what the website was until over halfway through the article.

Which also means that Toronto still haven't made it out of the 2nd round.

But but but but he was a Habs fan growing up! That surely holds more weight than the team you've played on for 20 years.

That's probably the most sane part of the article. That's not a bad return for Crosby although he's probably never moved, rightfully so.

I remember when I was a sports columnist, and I had no real good ideas for this week's piece, so I'd just write something fanciful for whatever reason. I like Jack Todd because we grumpy old men need to stick together, but this is one of those things that we'll all just want to forget.

Crosby is a great player, even as he slides toward his dotage, but there is no sense to bringing in someone at that salary at this stage of the club's retooling.
