To Montreal: Nino Niederreiter and 5th round pick 2017

vs

To Minnesota: Nathan Beaulieu, David Desharnais (15% retained), Sven Andrighetto and 3rd pick 2018

MTL POV: Nino could be a good pickup for the 2nd line can play both wing and fresh air should be great for him. Trevor Timmins likes the late picks..

MIN POV: With the expansion coming the Wild will need some d-man and Beaulieu would be a nice option if they Scandella or Spurgeon. DD is UFA after the season but a line Staal-DD-Pominville could be good. Andrighetto is RFA after this seaon and should be the hidden card in this trade.. great hands, good speed, go in the traffic.

Minnesota totally needs Beaulieu to their third pairing... oh wait? 7th defenseman?

A completely **** proposal.

The exact opposite of what the wild need to do. If they even need to make a move as of now it would be for a forward. Specifically a center. They wouldn't want to take on another defenseman with the cluster they have around the 6th spot. They have 2 or 3 ready to play in the NHL defenseman already waiting. So no point in moving forward with this post. Sorry buddy.

No even close from a Minnesota perspective. Nathan B does nothing to help us in the protection of our more desirable blueliners. Not to mention we have no need for any NHL ready defenseman. We already have 7. Possibly 8-9 depending on Olofsson's & Folin's development. If we lose Brodin, Scandella or Dumba, we can relatively easily slot in Mike Reilly.
DD? Well it wouldn't be a MTL proposal without DD. Easy pass. He not even a temptation. Sven could be interesting, but still not nearly interesting enough to give up Nino. Not sure why you think Nino need a change. He seems very happy here. Any change he may need has likely already been addressed with our new coaching staff. Gotta believe at this stage Nino is part of the core.

We need Beaulieu more than Nino.

Andrighetto can get 30-35 points maybe more in a full season.

3rd round pick > 5th round pick.

No thank you from MTL.

As bad as this is for the Wild it really doesn't make sense from a Montreal standpoint either, other than the obligatory dumping DD of course

I would argue that both the Wild and Habs could use someone like Nino. Even if Nino is your #3RW, he's priced accordingly right now for that slot. He'd go a long ways toward bolstering secondary scoring, along with giving some top 6 depth for injuries. Or the Habs could slot him on the left side. Where he probably would be a top6 right now. All that said, I'm more than happy to keep Nino.

We can juste give the left side to Andrighetto\Carr\Hudon and keep Beaulieu and the pick. Sure our left side would be better with him, but we need Nathan and the young players are more than enough.

This trade makes no sense

1. Wild cant take a cap dump.

2. Wild cant take another D, when we have about 8 guys who can play in the NHL. We can give you couple bottom pair guys for Ghetto if you want a deal?

This trade:

20+20winger and 5th

for

3rd and point per game AHL prospect RW.

Absolutely not. Galchenyuk for Nino? Sure. Nothing else is of interest.
This is pretty far off too. We could absolutely use Gallagher. Not for Nino, but a different deal could make sense for us

It's almost like OP looked at our ACTUAL needs, and then just wrote everything down the opposite.

Both teams decline.

Montreal needs Beaulieu to play in the top-4, Andrighetto has a legit shot at the last spot on the top-6.

Minnesota doesn't need another defenseman that they'll have to protect, they already have to leave at least one of their top guys exposed barring a trade.

Remove Beaulieu, Andrighetto, Nino, and the Habs 3rd rounder and it's a deal :naughty:

I mean, Andrighetto's producing rate wasn't far off Niederreiter's last season, and he wasn't exactly put in a favorable position, in what was essentially his rookie season.

And Beaulieu really isn't an expandable asset. We were thin on LD, we drafted Sergachev, and now we trade our young NHL-proven LD. So we basically create another need on LD..? Not to mention Minnesotta has no need whatsoever for more defensemen.

It's non-sense for both teams, and even if it made sense for the Habs, I'd rather stick with Ghetto and Beaulieu for one more season before going in that kind of direction.

Please take note that not ALL Habs fans think that Beaulieu + useless roster player + some pick are worth something valuable.

Thanks

EDIT : Forgot about Guetto. Doesn't change much tbh

Yep, Wild will have two good young defenseman exposed if Fletcher doesn't make a trade.

Protected: Suter, Spurgeon and 1/2 of Brodin/Scandella/Dumba.

Unless Zucker has a massive season and forces Vegas to take hometown kid or Staal has a bounce-back year it is virtually certain Wild will lose a good young D. It hurts because mobile young D like Brodin/Dumba have a lot of value in new NHL. Vegas would be silly not to take one of these guys.

Nino could be an interesting option if he can play adequate left wing. But the last guy the Habs should get rid of on left D is Beaulieu. He's 23 Cost controlled, and is expected to play top paring with Weber. With Markov and 1 year left, and Emelin in his 30s with 2 years left. Our only other true NHL left D prospect is Sergachev, and he's probably a year or 2 away. Beaulieu ain't going anywhere. Maybe DD, Ghetto and Juulsen or any other of D prospect not named Sergachev. Haps might have to throw in Flynn also to balance the cap

Fair enough.

Sounds like the direction this board is taking, no reason for either team to make this move.
