When Biello was interviewed this week when Drogba arrived he said "We hope he'll be able to play some minutes before the end of camp". So I'd be surprised if he did play tomorrow...

Cool. I wanna see more Slitheryn/ Harry Porter connections anyways.

I'd rather Messi, but that's not the point.

If Touré becomes available this summer, it is a realistic possibility that the 2 best Ivory Coast players EVER decide to reunite in the same club for their after European careers.
No way Drogba stays passed this season, I have a feeling he may not even finish this season.

So, here's the deal with 1642. I heard from a little birdie that they have a VERY big connection to Daniel Pozzi, the Impact's Team Operations Manager. They are technically "independent", as in they weren't actually built by the club, however, Pozzi basically gave them all the resources they needed to make things happen. They're basically directly tied to the team but they're technically not lying when they say they're "independent".

I feel so bad for the Ultras. They're probably going to be replaced eventually..

Without giving Daniel Pozzi's name up, this is basically what the co-founders said on TSN 690 last season.

Yeah but he's not just a contact like they said he was, he's much more than that.

Why is this even news? No **** they have ties to the club, they installed a 2 ton bell and their "admission fee" is deductible on your season ticket.

They don't change a freacking thing for the Ultras. Their goals aren't the same, and neither is the character of each members group.

8500 season ticket sold is pretty damn good if you ask me.

I HOPE the Impact are prepared to make a huuuuge marketing push next month, with the Als in transition and the Habs season being a complete mess they need to grab that brass ring. Joey, how much do you put in marketing? DOUBLE IT for march and april

Whoa, calm down. I knew a lot of people were curious about this group so I just thought I'd relay the information I got.

I'm just worried that the Impact will start ignoring the Ultras.. or even worse, start muffling them.

nah, Ultras are gonna be fine. They complain a lot but the team is pretty nice to them considering all the crap they've done. Their own standing section, a place to keep the drums and banners, etc etc

It's more the league that you should worry about. They seem to be stifling supporter groups left and right.

I always felt the Ultra's suppression was overblown here. They aren't the easiest supporter group to work with. At least we have two now. Let's hope it creates a greater atmosphere.

I'm not mad at you or anything, it's just that announcing that 1642 MTL has ties to the team is like announcing that the Impact will play with a blue jersey at home or that Biello is coaching the team. Everybody knows...

I just wanted to let you guys (or whoever was curious) exactly how they were connected.

Hey everybody... sooooo Red Bull supporters are in a bit of a tiff with your front office. They have a new policy regarding away supporters. Obviously we're the opponent for your home opener... and we were informed that every single Red Bull fan coming up for the game has to submit their name, address, and e-mail address and can only pick up tickets with a valid ID. Also, we have to submit this information to the Impact within 10 business days of the match.

One of our Viking Army board members says that this violates Quebec law. I don't really know what's going on but a lot of people are pissed off. Have you guys seen any new laws/guidelines for your own fans come into effect?

First of all, thank you very much for sharing the info, much appreciated.

Second... am I the only one who doesn't feel bad for the Ultras at all? Don't get me wrong, I respect their passion, dedication and implication, but I can't help but feel that their problems with the club are their own doing. Sure, MLS rules (no pyro) are kinda stupid. However, the Ultras' unwillingness to adapt is pathetic, especially considering that their only reason not to negociate a solution is to say that "un Ultra ne négocie pas sa façon de supporter." That's dogmatic bs, IMO.

I mean, according to them, they are a package deal, take it or leave it. That's pretty immature, IMO. Do they love the club or do they love themselves more? Their conception of freedom is childish at best. It isn't a surprise that the club is looking to "sponsor" a supporter group that will comply with the rules and give the club a good image. After all, it is a business.
