So much for Slaf wanting to play against Nemec... kid must be disappointed.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got a bit banged up from that open ice hit attempt on him.

It looked like his leg/knee took the brunt of it.

It must have been always the plan to sit Jack-Eye a game. That’s why they went to get J.P-J.

The fact he said he was going to destroy Nemec in the corner (as a joke) probably didn’t help. Too much of a distraction? I would have played him tonight anyways.

Just found out he was 1st in the OHL for faceoffs last year for what it's worth.

"Beck won 817 (60.6%) of his 1348 faceoffs this season in the OHL, well ahead of anyone else who took at least 500 faceoffs in the league"
There was a funny exchange in the Owen Beck habs interview
"Are you good at face offs"
"Yes"
"How good?"
"1st in the OHL"
"Oh wow I didnt know that, just kidding"

I dont know it just felt funny seeing the guy who already knows beck is good in face offs but was just seeing HOW he would respond, and I thought Becks point blank "1st in the OHL" stood out to me as an answer because of the confidence he said it with and just taking pride in the fact he IS really good at face offs

This guy probably has a Josh Roy type of explosion in his game next year, have a feeling, like 33 G 58 A type stuff

Heineman-Beck is a nice duo.
Everybody is obsessed with filling out the dream team super all star Top 6 (were doing not bad actually, trading for PLD would set it over the top)
But you GOTTA have great 3rd liners too to go far
And Heinemen-Beck as a future 2/3 of that makes me feel GREAT honestly

Condotta is a true dark horse. Undrafted, older college player who earned a one year contract.
With that said his upside is 100% a 4th liner, nothing more.
He played down the stretch for Laval last year and was nothing special.
However, he started looking really good during the playoff run and I saw some decent upside.
I appreciated that he stepped up last night for the Slaf hit.
I am rooting for this kid!
Not much offensive upside, but he uses his body and typically wins all his battles along the boards.

His ceiling is a Travis Moen type of player. Nothing wrong with having guys who can pan out into a responsible 4th line hitting machine

Heineman is the kind of player, if he develops well, who could play anywhere in the line up i feel like. On the 3rd line, can help on the 2nd if there’s a need even the 4th line but it would be a waste of his abilities.

I'm happy Beck is starting to get more love from Habs fans.
---
As to the Devils roster which isn't as deep as it could be as lots of their prospects are already playing in their leagues or at college.

-Holtz has a make or break year ahead for him. He was great in the AHL but was scoreless in his NHL games, It looked like he got pushed around very easily and his timing was a bit slow. He seemed to have bulked up a lot this off season

-Stillman was the weird late 1st pick by the devils in 2021, High floor low ceiling guy who is an agitator and fights in the corners for pucks.

-Foote Has shown success in the AHL and has a great shot but his lack of foot speeed seems to hold him back and not really a great fit for the Devils speed philosphy.

-Talvitie is a adapable 3rd/4th center that you can plug onto a line and get some results.

-Filmon Was picked in the 140-160 range in the last draft. some draft sites had him in the 40s

Rest of the Forwards aren't Devils prospects but invitee's

-Bahl is a giant Defenseman that is a good crease clearer and great at knocking others off the puck along the boards.

-Walsh is your PP specialist that hasn't really fixed his defensive issues over the past three years

-Okhotiuk is a defensive defenseman that likes to hit and fight

Don't need to introduce Nemec and the bottom pairing isn't noteworthy.

In net is Shmid who is the Devils oldest goalie prospect but I would place him 4th among them.
---------
Fun fact of the game is....
Montreal Goalie will be Dawson Mercers brother supposedly.

I think it will be a tight game as outside of Holtz the Habs might be better forward wise, The Defense I would give to the Devils and Schmid is definitely a better goalie then the undrafted Mercer.

Hope this info helps some Habs fans!:thumbu:

Did Beck even lose one faceoff last night ? He was a freaking machine. He switches sides too, like Plekanec used to, so he doesn't have a true weak side.
Dude is gonna carve out an NHL career for sure, I can see it in the way he plays. I just hope he truly blossoms offensively and can be more than a 3rd liner (which I strongly think is his floor).
