I'm so torn on Pacioretty. His lack of creativity is so detrimental on the powerplay. He has no vision and gives the puck away on the PP soooo often. On the other hand he has a good shot and can score but honestly and this isn't knee jerk but I would easily swap him out for another winger a la Landeskog (cap savings, better playmaking and grit). I can't see us winning a Cup with Pacioretty unless he is further insulated by better players like he has been with Radulov. He is not THE guy on an NHL team but gets treated like it here

You're going to call me an apologist but our roster isn't even that bad, its usage and (like almost EVERY other team) we have holes to be fixed come trade time. But the coaching is a huge millstone around the roster.

I would say we are in tier 2, which is a 'playoff team', actual contenders IMO would be the likes of the pens and caps. I don't expect us to match their firepower, but with the right additions and *IF* Price can shake his slump (which come playoff time I suspect he will to some degree) we can certainly make a good run.
