I think he's complaining that you made the title sound like it was something officially said by the Hab's organization and not just you thinking they should.:thumbu:
I was talking about the "speculation" part. Ain't no speculation tag in the title.

The title was changed to reflect my complaint; no need to highlight the mental midgetery applied to the original title.
No it was not. Nothing from it has changed from since I originally created it.

Unless a mod has made a change?

You assume too much. I watch more then enough habs games to know that WiFi is a terrible defender all on my own.
How neat. I actually am a fan and watch every game. I know you can look it up so I can't ask you on the spot to name the 7 defenders Montreal currently has in rotation, but considering your knowledge, which ones play better than him?

The reason I ask is because there is a very clear media manufactured hatred of him since the preseason and so many simply follow the line and notice every single mistake he makes, ignoring that the rest of Montreal's d-core is just as hot garbage.

Agree that your d-core is hot garbage and don't have many better options.

The point was you need better transition & defensive players not grit.

But glad you decided to be a dick about it.

Why even do this?

It's a transitional year and you're tanking. Let the young prospects play and determine if they have NHL skillsets or not. Give the freedom to make mistakes and play their style, like Hutson. Get another high draft pick and then build around your core. Grit and depth isn't going to chance anything for this team.

Bullshit title with "Speculation"

Maybe not said publicly by The Habs but Friedman has said it on his podcast. They are looking for bottom 6 grit and a top 4 RHD.

You are partly correct, but they aren't tanking anymore and they can't let the young guys get pushed around.

I would like for my team to add some sandpaper to their bottom 6 and defensive corps (preferably a RHD).

What available pieces your team has that would fit the bill? What would be the ask?

Jeremy Lauzon Michael McCaron and Luke Schenn? Please for the love of all that is good, will somebody take them.

Lindgren is a fine stopgap, this yr 4.5 expiring, if mutual interest, you have dibs on renewing before ufa status kicks in

capwages.com has him as LD/RD, but lefty shot really an LD
not a unicorn who does it all but is 6'0" 190+ solid, can clear the crease and otherwise ok, fully delivers grit sought, shows his playing with heart every night

prior to accumulated wear + tear, coupla yrs ago price was more
current, imo
Lindgren + Vesey + next 2 Ranger 3rds [2026 + 2027]
for
small add (Barron) + next 2 Hab 2nds [2025 + 2026, but flexible ok if later yrs]

throwing in Vesey 800k expiring, want NHL mins for Rempe which is long term smarter

McCarron no longer on MON

you get short term answer
Rs get cap space + futures, we have Mancini available now and Fortescue down the road

If you're looking for grit on the bottom 6 or defense, check out the Blackhawks buffet. Take your pick of Hall, Maroon, Craig Smith, Athanasiou, Joey Anderson, Donato, Connor Murphy, Alec Martinez, TJ Brodie, etc.

The problem might be that Montreal doesn't really have anything they'd be willing to trade that the Hawks would want back other than draft picks - which could get it done. It's funny, this won't happen, but I'd like to see the Hawks bring back Kirby Dach. Seems like a 'change of scenery guy' and the Blackhawks team he left is VERY different from the team now.
