HF Habs: Montreal Canadiens Hockey Ops - Part 3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Kent Hughes went at the Processus podcast. I could watch it since I took the Patreon membership for 1 month and it was very interesting ! The episode will be out on every platform next week. One thing he said, is if they didn’t traded for Alex Newhook, they would have pick Gavin Brindley and Jacob Fowler with those picks but the scouts where confident they could get Fowler in the 3rd round

Here is a video of a part of the interview on what he said to Slaf this year

Slaf needs to realize that it's not because he'll play more of a North-South game that he wont be worthy of being 1st overall.

They are now entering the more difficult period of the rebuild, as they now have to use the assets they've acquired to build a competitive team. This is what separates mediocre GMs from the good ones. Even a mediocre GM can do a decent job hoarding assets during a selling phase. He can even draft well or get lucky at the draft.

Hugo's player acquisition is a bit of a mixed bag thus far, but even with some of their misses, I've liked the reasoning and willingness to take risk. I think we're in good hands.

Hearing Kent speak is so refreshing. Has to be one of the most intelligent and nuanced thinkers running a team in the NHL right now. Never once felt that way about the previous regime.
He definitely sounds lucid and aware.

Gauthier was very cagey and tight, Gainey was a archaic, and Bergevin doesn’t need describing. So yes, Hughes comes across actually intelligent.

I don’t agree with all his decisions but I respect them and when he explains his decisions it becomes even more clear that he’s thought them through.

Vincent talking about his development philosophy.

that was interesting and well written, I liked his quote about how young players will let it slip through their fingers as it's easy to see how it could happen at that age with a decent amount of cash.

Yep. It's kinda mundane but compared to previous coach it's great to finally see the guy in charge acknowledging an obvious pitfall and doesn't act like it's not his problem whatsoever.

Have to wonder how long we will be able to keep him in Laval though, wouldn’t be surprise to see a team offer him an associate coach job

really great quotes about the 20 hours a day they have to themselves determines their seriousness at making it.
I mean it's obvious, but it's cool to hear a coach speak candidly of it

agreed. i don't know how much Vincent makes, but i hope it's comparable to what an NHL assistant coach makes to incentivize him to stay for a few years
I'm guessing him being in his home province and making a good salary is probably making it worth his while. His way his stint went in the NHL, could go in multiple ways. Either he feels he has lot to learn still à la Bruce Cassidy or he just wants to prove that it was a case of all the odds being stacked against him and never being given a proper chance, just look at Bednar in COL
