Not a very good start to free agency

Technically, free agency starts on the 14th. But the CFL has a window that allows teams to talk to pending free agents. So we obviously get info on what deals will be signed once free agency opens.

But the Als is a shit show right now.

We'll see what they do. But it's definitely not encouraging.

This team actually means a lot to me and I'll always cherish those great memories from the Calvillo era but man, there's absolutely nothing positive or encouraging to look forward to. I'm no Maciocia fan but he can't even do his job right now ffs, hard to improve your roster when you don't even know if you'll have the money to pay the players you sign.

No one knows what's going to happen, if the team will still exist next year... Very depressing,

Whether the plan is to sell the team or keep it, it seems pretty stupid to let it fall apart like this. The fan interest is probably going to be really low, especially since it sounds like Eugene Lewis won't be coming back, and they still haven't found a long term QB since Calvillo retired.

It's pretty sad to see as a long time fan and very depressing that this is where the team is now after that entire saga around the team's sale by the league...

You can ignore The Sportscenter post above about the league buying the Als. I saw that posted on Twitter by someone today, but just realized it was a Tweet from 2019 when the league bought the team from Wetenhall.

But the ones I just posted is from today. So it seems something could be up.

I lived in Montreal during the Alouettes failure(First failure) Then came the Montreal Concorde team and who can forget The Montreal Machine in the NFL Minor Leagues kinda prospects? Montreal is a North American Footlaball League City! always! R. I hope the Alouettes stay... Seems bad Management! the seats are always full... Great Venue @ McGill! Sure it's not NFL... but still better than Soccer? ;-) R.

Wish the CFL would fold and we'd get an NFL team already tbh.
I think the presence of the CFL is far down the list of things that would prevent Montreal from having an NFL team. Things like ownership, a stadium & whether the NFL is even interested would be a bigger problem. At this time I'm not sure that the presence of the CFL would even stop the NFL if they really wanted a team in Montreal (or Toronto or Vancouver)
