This specific complaint is bullshit Lou. Gross wasn’t going to negotiate until they got rid of Ullmark. And Sway wasn’t going to accept some lowball contract.I mean did Pasta buy in with the record contract for a winger or McAvoy with his massive 9.5 deal? Because the Bruins didn't make them fight for what they thought was fair that makes them culture guys? Not Swyaman's fault Sweeney f***ed up the cap and couldn't extend him last summer
How bad did this brass f*** up the Ullmark thing? Maybe they should have talked with Swayman for the 18 months leading up to this deal? Maybe say, Hmmm that arbitration wasn't great, maybe it will be hard to negotiate next year as well? maybe we should lock him up or at least start talking Jan 1? Maybe Swayman is more receptive to a 3 year 6.5 mil bridge before he is the #1 and has that fantastic play-offs? How about being proactive? Ringling Bros.
I don't agree with this take at all. On paper this team should be better than they were last year. No reason for their record to be this bad right now. Now about those contracts turning into anchors - very much a possibility down the road. But 2024 we shouldn't be having this discussion. It won't change anything.
Jim Montgomery was WAY down the list of problems with this team.
Historically, I've been one of Don Sweeney's biggest defenders on this board. But he lost me forever this summer. The return on the Ullmark trade was ridiculous. And the Lindholm and Zadorov deals look like boat anchors that'll make it hard for this franchise to keep their head above water in the coming years.
In a 96-hour period, Don Sweeney set this franchise up for years of failure.
If you think Jim Mongomery was a problem and wanted change, then that's fine. But don't tell me the roster that Don Sweeney put together isn't a bigger problem at this point.
They lack talent, but not this degree. They should be a playoff team 100%. They don't have the talent of a bottom 5 team in the leagueThis will solve nothing. Nothing.
Our team lacks talent. This is 1000000% on Sweeney.
Fire Sweeney not to the Sun but out of the Galaxy completely
Ok, then how about Mark Stuart? Not in the family
Sacco
Leach
Mike Sullivan
I’m done with outsiders
Brian Sutter
Mike Keenan
Dave Lewis
Monty
QualifiedOk, then how about Mark Stuart?
I'd say fire him into a black hole but it would probably break our understanding of the universe as it would be the first time a black hole would actually spit something out after consuming it.This will solve nothing. Nothing.

I’m glad people are finally starting to realize how bad he is. He inherited a tremendous core and rode them, but it became clear in that 2015 draft how bad he was at this job. You can afford to be arrogant if you’re really smart; you can afford to be stupid if you are humble and listen to others, but you can’t be arrogant and stupid - it never works. He always thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and gets taken advantage of time after time by people that realize how dumb he really is. And this is not hindsight, it was apparent in the moment during the 2015 draft, during the Ullmark trade, during the swayman negotiations and during the signing of Zadorov and Lindholm. It won't change anything.

Interim is a key word hereImagine thinking Joe Sacco is the man to fix all of this.
Another question for ya'll to consider; we're all complaining about a perceived underperformance which had me thinking for a second. How much of what we're seeing now is actually the result of a lot of guys overachieving last year and are now coming back down to earth because of Monty putting them in a position to succeed rather than them suddenly being bad?
Charlie Coyle for most of his career has been a 40 to 45 point guy. Last season he put up 60 because with Krejci and Bergeron's departure forcing him into a larger role.
Pavel Zacha was seen as an underachiever leaning towards bustville before New Jersey traded him. Under Monty, he's suddenly a 50+ point guy and a legitimate top 6 forward.
Morgan Geekie was a literal nobody until Boston took a flier on hm and actually made him look like a legit option for a team's middle 6. Same story for Frederic.
Maybe this team was never all that good to begin with and coaching was doing way more heavy lifting than any of us knew?
I think most knew this was coming. I wish Monty the best.Right decision. Looking forward to seeing what Sacco, Kelly and Leach can do.
Didn't want to play for noted big meanie Bruce Cassidy.
Didn't want to play for Nice guy Jimmy.
Who the do these guys want to play for?
I got multiple texts from my friends thinking/guessing Sullivan@DKH and I agree
What fantasy land are you living in? They just had a negotiation the summer before. Remember? The Bruins had zero cap space and needed to go short term. Do you really think if they went 3/18 then he would not have taken it? Swayman got punted because of crappy cap management. Insanity. As for not negotiating until they dealt Ullmark are the Bruins really that stupid? OK let us trade our leverage without even having an inkling of what you're asking for. Incompetence at it's finest, I thought you held this management team in high regard? They rushed the deal because they had a hard on for Letourneau and were afraid Linus was going to change his no trade list. This specific complaint is bullshit Lou. Gross wasn’t going to negotiate until they got rid of Ullmark. And Sway wasn’t going to accept some lowball contract.
There is at least some truth in this, maybe a lot.Another question for ya'll to consider; we're all complaining about a perceived underperformance which had me thinking for a second.
