Had to happen. He's far from the only reason this season has gone belly up but you can't fire 23 players and at the end of the day its the coaches job to get his players to buy in which clearly has not happened in the slightest. I don't expect anything to change with Sacco at the helm.

Monty is an absolutely incredible person with an amazing story. I wish him absolutely nothing but the best. His first 2 seasons here are so, so memorable even with very little playoff success. Great guy and I'm sure he'll be picked up quick.

Seeing how this team responds will be another thing. If they miraculously start exceeding expectations with Joe f***ing Sacco, you know the reason why he left.

Jim Montgomery was WAY down the list of problems with this team.

Historically, I've been one of Don Sweeney's biggest defenders on this board. But he lost me forever this summer. The return on the Ullmark trade was ridiculous. And the Lindholm and Zadorov deals look like boat anchors that'll make it hard for this franchise to keep their head above water in the coming years.

In a 96-hour period, Don Sweeney set this franchise up for years of failure.

If you think Jim Mongomery was a problem and wanted change, then that's fine. But don't tell me the roster that Don Sweeney put together isn't a bigger problem at this point.

Not a Montgomery guy by any means and this is probably well deserved especially when you take our playoff shortcomings in context. But him getting canned the first time he hits a rough patch in the regular season in 2+ years while the guys who signed a 3rd pair Dman for big money for the billionth time still get to make decisions on this team doesn't sit right with me. I hope they are gone after the season too
