You could make the argument that was the first crack in the wall.

FWIW, they name names on Dom’s podcast and the only ‘complainer’ left is Frederic.

Marchand, Bergeron, McAvoy, Pasta were all big Cassidy supporters.
So Sweeney made his decision to fire Bruce based on secondary, streaky, pouty players complaints, not his actual leaders? That's not a good look

This is true but Sweeney and Cassidy deserved to be fired a few times over the final few seasons. The Hall trade saved them one season in one especially dreary season and was it the following season when Debrusk was promoted to the Bergeron line midway through another dreary season?

Cassidy is a good coach with the right team but is another one where he is less effective after a few seasons. Less extreme than a Tortorella of course.
Sweeney should never have survived the 2015 draft fiasco. How a guy making millions of dollars to build a hockey team gets that completely wrong when every casual fan on this site was screaming at the television after successively passing on Barzal, Connor and Chabot is one of the worst GM moments all time. He has done nothing since to redeem himself. He was handed the keys to a Ferrari, got a few more miles out of it and then drove it into a brick wall. We are doomed until he is fired and we can rebuild this team with someone that can get out of the way of his own ego.

Yeah, I kinda don’t trust Sweeney with a rebuild.

Wow!
They all loved to tell what a great coach Montgomery is, it's hard to imagine they fired him. Endless of admiration and being nice maybe isn't such a good thing when you bring that attitude to the rink. No wonder they seem to play with no emotion and being this nice on the ice too.
Why would Joe Sacco change much when he says he's not even going to.
Is he going to learn the players to shoot better.

This team need structure and strategy and to stop playing bandy. Bandy is game played over in Europe where the players use one hand on the stick waving and poking just like the Bruins play hockey. But in hockey you're alloweed to check and finish checks except the Bruins don't know. They need some injection of life on the ice and bench too. Stop talking and get to work.

I've been following the Bruins since 1970 and this team is not only the worst team I've seen, but the most boring team I've ever seen.

Tell me how this team can go being the best in the league a year ago to the worst 12 months later. They have traded Jake DeBrusk and Matt Grzelcyk for Elias Lindholm and Zadarov which is a wash really if at worst. I wasn't that fond of signing Elias or Zadarov but it shouldn't be this bad.

How can the whole team all of a sudden fall this far. I sure hope the problem was the coach otherwise it's much worse. Sorry if being not so nice.

Again, I’m paraphrasing Dom’s podcast, but they said Sweeney wanted to keep Bruce. Cam stepped in and made the change. I don’t think the host felt like it was all due to malcontents but rather recent playoffs. The malcontents were there though, and that’s what people have latched onto.

Monty had to take the fall and I wish him all the best, but is Sacco the answer?? I highly doubt it, but he might be a good interim coach until the B's can find a proven head coach

Personally I'd like to see Joel Quenneville take over this team

Either way, the spotlight is now shining directly on Sweeney and Neely and their days are numbered

I get the feeling it was more about family than not wanting to be the scapegoat. Him on TV would be great. He is a true x's and O's type of guy. Won't be shocked if he gets a new gig or if he decides to step away.
From Montreal, bilingual, and a lifelong fan. IMO he's probably their next coach.

We had one GM for 40 years or whatever so I’m sure the bruins aren’t the best to compare.

But at the same time how many coaches do you remember who were the winningest coach of their era did you see get fired after barely over 2 years.

Do you have even one example of that?
Sweeney has fired two coaches who have won Cups and the other had the best RS in NHL history. How many GM's have accomplished firing that trifecta?

I've learned never to predict what's going to happen in April based on what's happening in the fall.

Wouldn't bet a dollar that they would/will beat Florida in the playoffs at the moment, of course.

But injuries happen, players improve, teams evolve, player have slumps....it's just too early.
Yes . They will get a wildcard spot . The teams behind them in the standings are terrible and sure the Bruins are terrible too right now but Sacco has an easy schedule for the next ten games . As bad as they were the other night, they had several glorious scoring chances but the team has no confidence right now . Swayman will get on a roll . He can’t possibly continue to be this bad , can he ?

It was more Neely who listened to the complaints of Vatrano, Frederick, and Jake DeBrusk.
IMO, Freddy should be the next shoe to drop. Wait until the TDL and see if someone offers something crazy.

I won't be thrilled on getting a WC spot. It more than likely means either getting curb stomped by Florida again or finally losing to Toronto in the playoffs. I'm tired of the first scenario and not ready for the second.

Does anyone remember the year under Cassidy when Sacco was head coach for a few games? My recollection is that it was the 2021-2022 season, but I can't find any answers.

If you can remember a month, great. It would be nice to see some stats, as I remember the game looking a lot better for that brief moment.

It was. Cassidy had Covid and Sacco took charge for maybe 3 games or so. Not digging up the stats but the Bruins did well in that little stretch, for sure. But I don't read too much into it. It came at a time when the relationship between Cassidy and the players was already becoming strained, and Sacco was a breath of fresh air as a result. The players lifted but it was a brief period and it was more analogous to a new coach bump than anything. A decent roster played solid for a little stretch, nothing more.

The big stumbling block for me with Sacco is I don't see what he can offer that he wasn't already over the last few months and all the years before that. His first presser did nothing to allay that concern. I think he'll do ok, give it an honest go. The team should improve at least a little bit. But I don't expect too much. More likely he can simply steady the ship before someone more qualified is hired in the offseason.

With increasing frequency, every time I see Don Sweeney do his professorial, matter of fact, I'm the smartest guy in the room act, my dislike for him expands exponentially.

He's not a terrible GM, in fact a good one, but boy do I want this guy gone. I am heartily sick of his sh*t.

Even if they turn it around this season, which I expect, if I could wave my magic wand both Sweeney and Neely would slip silently, inoffensively, into the ether. Never to be heard from again.

"Tiis an outcome devoutly to be wished for,"

3-1-2 record

Starting with Detroit on the 30th of November. Last game was on the 11th of December against Calgary.
