Things I didn’t enjoy:

- Clenching my butt every time the Stars put the puck in the general direction of the net

- Necas attempting to get physical and just kind of bouncing off of people

- Tough game for Chatfield

- ASMR videos being played over a sound system
-Having to start typing the Rangers GDT today to have it ready for tomorrow's game.

I don’t remember who they were playing (I want to say Ottawa?) but I very clearly remember watching Brind’Amour get his knee messed up. I remember where I was, who I was watching with, and this awful feeling that he’d never come back from it

Awesome clip of Jaccob Slavin.
He is one of the most under rated players in the NHL
Slavin made that play look easy. He has high skill level and makes it look effortless.

I’m a pretty huge stick nerd and I love these kinds of talks. I think people don’t realize how a seemingly small change can affect a guy. Necas switched his a few years ago and it changed a lot for him. Conversely Svech looks like he’s changed to something custom after using what looks like a standard Bauer p92 since he was in junior. It could be something that’s actually messing him up, he might love it in practice but in games he might not be used to it. I didn’t notice it last year so I think it’s a this year thing. Also gives you a peek into his mindset as he’s been struggling since his injury. Guys change things up when it’s in their head that they can’t score.

A bigger curve here with Slavin is giving him more confidence to do things with the puck he never did before, both plays on his goals involve him taking a shot or making a move he just has never done. He’s also made some errors defensively with the puck that don’t look like him. The lie is probably different which makes a difference when making quick instinctual plays.

Fun details to the game I enjoy watching.

Just when you think you can't love Rod more

I decided to go back and look at some stats after seeing this, well didn't actually find what I wanted with Rod/Canes yet but came across the '07-08 stat leaders and I got a friendly reminder of just how dominant Datsyuk was on paper in addition to the eye test. 4th in scoring with 97 points (25th in goals so no slouch there), league leading +41, 54.3% in the dot and an absolutely absurd 144 takeaways -- nearly twice as many as 2nd in the league who had 86. Just bonkers man.
