The sad part is that teams just come right through and set up in our D-zone late in games. That happened a lot in the 3rd against Anaheim and I think it happened ALL night in this one.

That's not something that happened much before this current slide. Not with regularity. When it came in our end, it usually went right back out.

But the team has had many moments lately where they look like they're on the PK when they're not.

I’m not going to post here until this streak ends. You’ll hate me if I keep posting here otherwise. Put simply, we not only suck, we suck in the exact same f***ing way as last season. The offense has a sense of entitlement that they can score their way out of any bad situation. The defense can’t play worth a damn in their own zone. The goaltending can’t make saves. And now we have a coach who has a track record of getting jack shit from his bottom six.

The Canes broke us and I don’t know when we’re getting that groove back.

I don't really care about the "responsible" stuff. That team while sure maybe not as good as this team is defensively was pretty damn great defensively in their own right and I liked the depth of that team and their game at 5v5 especially offensively a whole hell of a lot more. I don't think you can get the bottom 6 good enough in season. It needs too much work right now. It's not a one person fix. Next offseason they should be able to overhaul things and get it where they should but I don't think they can get there this season.

Have you just flat out forgotten about the long run? The 4th line is shooting like 2%. They're not going to shoot 10% but they shouldn't be shooting 2%. Tatar-Lazar-Bastian is a perfectly workable 4th line, and so is Cotter if that's the direction they go in. They need someone on that 3rd line to replace Cotter. And yeah, the 3rd line isn't going to be up to the ability of other teams' 3rd lines, but neither do other teams have better 1st and 2nd lines than the Devils.

If they can't change it all this yeah, so be it. I like what Keefe is doing overall and what he's establishing, and I like our long term outlook, especially with him behind the bench and who we have coming through the prospect pipeline. We're set up quite nicely here. I like how the team is playing when they're at their best, which they've been for large chunks this year in my eyes. This off-season will be a big one, and this deadline too. 1 or 2 intelligent adds could make a huge difference.

Bastian and Lazar aren't the fleetest of foot which would've been my concern there if a puck turned over like how it happened. A lot of bad luck happened on the GWG like the ref/Siegs and Markstrom forgetting how to use his glove but after the Jack line, he should've thrown the Nico line out there imo.

I bet anything he's gone next year, barring his best half season as a Devil.

Unless they can get rid of Palat instead, but Haula is easier to dump.

That's what I don't want to forget. This season has been mostly positive. The team is struggling right now, but they talent and the process is there. It's not the end of the world nor the end of the season. Most teams go through something like this. Just get back to it Monday night!

something has to change with our lineup or else this will simply be a learning year on how to win in regular season and make the playoffs.

After last season I would of been content for the 24-25 season just to make the playoffs and see what happens. After the level of play we saw before this 4 game skid it would disappointing to just be a one and done this year. Top 6 and the D play was bound to cool off a bit and this is where the bottom 6 lack of scoring hurts the most.

Yes yes there are examples of teams that have done some really poor things in the regular season that went on to have a lot of playoff success. There are exceptions to everything.
