Mobile GDT: Devils @ Sharks, 4 PM ET, MSGSN (if you somehow manage to still have it)

It's a pretty small sample size, but they last 4 games have been pretty meh. Not horribad hockey, but you just feel like they're going through the motions. I'm not very concerned.

Like tonight, I'm liking their offense. The 4th line even looks solid. But they have to tighten up defensively.
They look slow. Not just physically but with decision making.

Don't really get it. I think they are better than this but it's quite alarming if this reaches a four game losing streak against one of the worst teams in the league.

Last couple of games was rough for them (as if was for the whole team) but before that they were pretty consistently stretching together good games. Not getting even slight goal support from them sucks but they also generally control play in their minutes and at least don't hurt you defensively.

Been snakebitten as a line getting it past the goalie. I agree they have been putting together some good shifts in some games around the funk

Would be funny for all the "built for the playoffs" talk to result in them not even doing as well as 22-23.
I honestly don't think we really are at this point.

A large part of that is probably because the players still here from that team, and I'm talking the OLDER guys. Palat, Haula, Dougie, I guess Tatar (even though he's not playing much of a role, but he's also outscoring the bums playing more than him) are all definitely 2 years older than they were 2 years ago.

They went from being good, if not great players that year to now being older, definitely declining players.

Dougie made a pinch. An ill advised pinch, yes.

And then Luke failed to cover the front of the net.

But hey, it's shit on dougie season in here
A pinch in your zone...that's some Severson level stupid shit. And he makes stupid decisions like that despite being slow as f*** and unable to recover.

A pinch? He's the right dman, what the hell is he doing at the left side blue line? Why should Luke be expecting his partner to abandon the front of the net like that?

You're completely out to lunch on this one.

Why do you think that is?
Are you suggesting that dougie's style of play is inherently not recognized how many chances he gives up?

Because the approximately 800 game sample size of the xgoals against and goals against matching up nearly perfectly doesn't hold up there

We're Keefe's Leafs with better D personnel. We'd need some miracle performances from the depth guys to really make a run.

I'm fine with Dougie pinching, but that wasn't a pinch. A pinch is holding it in the ozone. Dougie was cheating and trying to be a forward on the breakout. He was breaking out to the blue line from his zone and it didn't seem necessary for him to do that.

I made an awesome sandwich. Chicken breast, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella, little bit of balsamic, couple of pieces of romaine.. nice.

I'm not sure I agree with you on much, but we may have found common ground

That poster has to be related to Dougie, how on Earth could anyone rational be defending him to this extent and on that play specifically?
He made a bad pinch.

To pretend he was the only player who made a mistake on that play is disingenious and the kind of bullshit that has been going on here for months now.

Ignore anything good he does, ignore anything bad any other dman does, highlight every mistake he makes, highlight every good play every other dman makes

Has Mercer lost a step? I think I actually saw Tiffoli outskate him to a puck.

I think he was gassed in that play, I noticed him slower than molasses coming back from a play he rushes up the ice on the PK (I think). If we are thinking the same play

He was SLOW, like looked injured lol, but I'm sure he wasn't.
