I don’t think the period was “bad”. Devils gave up a lot of chances but they also got a lot of chances. So it wasn’t good, it was just even.

It’s still finishing that is the biggest issue, nothing will go. Straight shots, rebounds, deflections, nothing wants to go.

Sieges has 20 seconds left and has a lane to shoot, and chooses to do a slap pass wide for something else, and the play dies out on the wall at the buzzer.

This is the kind of small details part of the team lacks, the chance to get a puck to the net and cause chaos on rebound is a much better move with 20 seconds left than trying to regroup for a better play.

Finishing grade A chances on this team is and has been suspect for a few seasons...

What a bad period. Gave up way too much defensively, couldn’t finish on our chances. Ugly.

Yep we certainly gave them a lot - Toffoli had 2 or 3 more and a crossbar. Lots of soft sudden turnovers at the blue line, at center ice.

With a team like them I would have thought you play sound and wait for their mistakes.

I'm not gonna call it a spiral unless we lose today, but that would be the kind of spiral that we're very lucky that currently all you need to be in the East to have a playoff spot as of this moment is over NHL 500. Because everybody that's over NHL 500 in the East is currently in a playoff spot as this afternoon.

So we're in no danger of falling out, but we're very much in danger of being able to win the division and now we're in danger of staying in 2nd and not finishing in 3rd.

And a losing streak which included losses to Anaheim and San Jose (not to mention going 0-2-0 against San Jose) would be really pathetic.

One of the worst threads ever created and was predictable what would happen as soon as it was posted.

This may sound stupid but I wonder if the boys were reading their press clippings and seeing all the praise at Christmas. Family and friends telling them how good they are. Spanked the Rangers at home prior. Then beat Carolina right out of the break but gave up many chances against. Got away with one in a sense. Then got boat raced all over the ice in Raleigh and they haven’t been the same since. They’re playing entitled hockey right now.
