Apparently we gave up JT Ginn and Adam Oller. I'm really not happy about losing Ginn, who has great. great upside, but Bassitt is a really nice get. Oller is a guy who came out of nowhere last year but I'm not sure what to make of him.

Just like NYR TDL, you gotta give to get. Cohen wants to win now at all costs, no prospect hugging and thinking of all the saved $ said prospect can save once they play in the big leagues in Metzville

Josh Donaldson and Kiner-Falefa along with young catcher Ben Rortvedt to the Yankees for Sanchez and Urshala.

Didn't Boone just say today Urshala would be starting SS lol.

Why? Sanchez stinks but I don't see what Donaldson does for this team.
 
I'm fine with this.

Ursehla can barely play third. It was a fever dream to think he would be shortstop. Donaldson is still probably a better hitter than Urshela.

Not having a DH behind the plate is addition by subtraction. The team just got worlds better defensively which is something they needed.

They're still too power-heavy which removing Gio doesn't help but that's the hand they're playing. It's not worth getting upset about anymore.

Agree on Donaldson being a better player than Urshela. Urshela can't play SS. I think we'll get SS via FA, most likely Story. I think Correa stays in Houston. KF can sort of play all over. Don't think he'll catch much tbh.
 
Not having El Gary anymore is a plus no matter the rest of the deal. But Cashman loves those RH power hitters...

Donaldson and Cole together lol.

Does anyone realistically think Steve Cohen is going to be outbid by someone else and steal the face of the franchise ? If Jake leaves its on his own terms and wanting to be somewhere else. Who knows how things are behind closed doors but it seems like the relationship between Jake and the Mets is much better than Noah or even Wheeler.
 
deGrom opting out was obvious. Every player in his spot opts out. The only way he wouldn't is if he gets hurt or has a terrible year.
 
Yeah Jake is a wildcard, honestly. If he has another year where he can't stay healthy, it puts the Mets in a bind. If he stays healthy you have to lock him into a huge deal and you still probably don't feel 100% good about it given his age and injury history.

Wow. Amazingly enough nearly 1 out of 10 ppl still don't wear seatbelts in the US which is most likely the sole reason he's at Spring Training today unharmed.

I don't think Cohen will be outbid, but degrom may want to taste the water elsewhere based on his tenure with the Mets. However if the Mets have a solid season (which they seem primed to do) I have a feeling he won't want to go anywhere, everyone loves a winner. If he's not healthy again or has a mediocre (by his standards) season then the Mets may balk at the big money and let him walk

Did you see what they Braves gave up? They basically gave up 3 out of the their top 6 prospects plus one more from what I’m reading.

That’s a pretty hefty price to pay. I hate Cashman with a passion but even I can’t justify paying that much for Olson.

That's fair but he needs to do something because Donaldson gets this team no closer to winning anything.
 
Yankees weren't going to be able to out prospect the Braves for Olson.

Sucks that they weren't able to keep Freeman as that would have probably led to Olson to NY. ATL will continue to be the class of their division.
