There is a legitimate correlation between starting pitchers whose arms are parallel to the ground at foot strike and elbow/shoulder injuries. Degrom and a sizeable chunk of baseball does this, one of the reasons why there are so many arm injuries (completely different conversation.) guys like Kluber and Scherzer are the exception, not the rule.

His delivery is low effort and he uses his lower half well, which may be why he’s been less injured than the other arms in that rotation, but he’s also gone under the knife multiple times to treat arm issues.

If you could promise me that he can pitch at this level and stay healthy for 3 of the next 4 seasons though, I’d trade for him in a heartbeat.

IMO you are oversimplifying something that's incredibly complex. if his arm or elbow was about to explode, you'd think there'd be something in medicals reflecting or hinting at that and Yankees would obviously do their Due Dilligence in that regard.

You can't make that promise for any pitcher.

BTW Harvey claims he cried after being DFA'd but I think it was tears of joy.

Eh not necessarily. You can go from structurally sound to f***ed really quick.

Despite the fact that he has less tread on his tires than most guys, he’s also had to have major surgery on his elbow twice. That’s a red flag, at least for me.

So you’re saying that based on a small sample size, Chapman really really struggles against the RedSox on extended rest and it should be avoided as much as possible? Noted.

Actually I'm saying any sentence that contains the words "in a short sample" should be null and void immediately.

Hopefully Mets Classics shows today's pregame as part of its normal programming.

I would get real emotional watching the Citi Field jumbo-tron show the Matt Harvey video tribute through my TV.

It is possible that better hitting teams, such as Boston, can particularly capitalize on Chapman when his control is off such as after extended rest. Possibly not. But ignoring data due to small sample is a mistake when that is all that is available for that particular scenario, you just have to keep in mind the context of a small sample and how it limits what you can confidently extrapolate.

Yeah McNeil looking nice so far. Let's see if he can carry it through the end of the season.

Just read about that little tiff between Kay and Frazier. What a dipshit move on Kay's part. I don't know his background, but that comment was spoken like a guy who had never suffered an injury, ever, let alone playing sports.

Knowing Michael, he meant that completely ironically, as Yankees fans had been criticizing our lack of depth after the Boston series.

That said, I do understand where it was insensitive and why Frazier would take offense.

Kay has already apologized to him on Twitter and said he would speak to him in person as soon as he can.

Sometimes Kay speaks without seeing the full gravity of what he says, but he's not a bad dude.

" If you took it the wrong way"

really dude? Kay isn't a bad guy but what a terrible 'apology'...

"If you took it the wrong way"
"I'm sorry if anyone took offense"
"I apologize if what I said was misinterpreted"
Etc....

They're all shitty non-apologies that make it seem as if the aggrieved party is somehow responsible. Whatever. Not trying to make it a bigger thing than it is.

I really don't know much about Kay. I mean obviously I've heard countless hours of him broadcasting, where I found him generally inoffensive and pretty decent. I don't think I've ever listened to the radio show. So, I really have no opinion of the guy. I just thought the original comments and the "apology" were pretty awful. Hopefully he learns from it.

Also, here's your apology if you want it to sound sincere:

"I apologize to Clint Frazier, and to Jacoby Ellsbury, for my insensitive remarks. Though they were intended to be tongue-in-cheek, that doesn't excuse their offensive nature. This won't happen again. I look forward to apologizing to Clint in person."

f***ing done. Own your shit and move on. Be sincere, even if you're not actually sincere.
