There is a legitimate correlation between starting pitchers whose arms are parallel to the ground at foot strike and elbow/shoulder injuries. Degrom and a sizeable chunk of baseball does this, one of the reasons why there are so many arm injuries (completely different conversation.) guys like Kluber and Scherzer are the exception, not the rule.
His delivery is low effort and he uses his lower half well, which may be why he’s been less injured than the other arms in that rotation, but he’s also gone under the knife multiple times to treat arm issues.
If you could promise me that he can pitch at this level and stay healthy for 3 of the next 4 seasons though, I’d trade for him in a heartbeat.
IMO you are oversimplifying something that's incredibly complex. if his arm or elbow was about to explode, you'd think there'd be something in medicals reflecting or hinting at that and Yankees would obviously do their Due Dilligence in that regard.
