Taking a Deeper dive into McCutchen's numbers, there's value to be had in who ever trades for him.

Obviously not the MVP caliber player he was in Pittsburgh, but still a pretty good player as long as you dont lean on him to be a starter (his defense has completely deteriorated.)

Trades flying in now. Archer finally moves.

Dodgers get stronger.

Braves move is a good one.

Still wondering why the Nationals did not sell more.

I still wouldve liked Matt Harvey.

Schoop still being discussed for trades, Brewers mentioned.

Pirates paid a good amount. I dont get it. I understand the contract. But are the Pirates that close to take on a guy who has not pitched well the last two seasons.

Pirates have the best pitching coach on earth.

They're on fire and I applaud them for doing something drastic.

If this is all the Yankees do, all things considered Cashman did a pretty good job.

Hasn't made up for passing on Cole but they were going to ride or die with their bats and bullpen anyway. Moving the rule 5 guys for the International Bonus Money was great though. Keep that pipeline strong.

Get McCutchen in 2 weeks?

Deals aren't done, players will just have to pass trade waivers first. Biggest trade last season didn't happen until 8/31 at 11:59PM (Verlander). We'll see who has some injuries pop up in August and have to make some waiver moves. Prices drop, but there is still some value after this deadline to be gained.

Shaw moustakas schoop villar arcia........too many infielders

Villar was added into the deal, so he is out for them. Have to think:

1st: Aguilar
2nd: Shaw
3rd: Moose
SS: Schoop

Arcia is the late game defensive replacement for Shaw and Schoop goes to 2nd.

I don't think Schoop can play SS everyday. Brew Crew are gonna have to have Moose off the bench and lose some bat with Arcia. I don't see a better solution, because Schoop is gonna cost you too much on defense playing in the hole everyday.

He played a significant amount of SS in AA. That was when he was 20. He did play it in the Arizona Fall League as well.

I think he can do it. He has the arm and he has an underrated glove. He's going to lineup for them at SS.

If the Phillies, and even the Mets, can line up Asdrubal Cabrera at SS (Mets made PO with him at SS in 2016), Schoop can play it for the Brewers. They'll be looking to hit their way out of some poor defense though, cause Shaw/Schoop up the middle will not be pretty, but it'll be on Shaw more than Schoop.

Just read something on Twitter that makes some sense. All of Travis Shaw's 20 homers have come vs RHP and he's hitting 214 vs lefties, so he'll probably come off the bench when a lefty starts.

Arica plays Short when a lefty starts with Schoop at 2nd and Moose at 3rd. And when a RHP starts, Schoop plays short, Shaw plays 2nd and Moose plays 3rd with Arcia being a defensive replacement.
