Texas has to be the biggest competitor to the Yankees chances IMO. Especially if they re-sign Darvish in the offseason.

Maybe, I do have the Texas Rangers as a very good darkhorse/favorable team.

I think it comes down to either the Dodgers, Rangers, or Yankees.

Rangers can offer him the most with like 3.5 mil, but the Yankees can offer him close to that with 3.3 mil and the Yankee brand endorsements, plus the NY/Yankee brand itself which is very popular in Japan. New York also have a very good Japanese presence. Plus, Tanaka is here and Matsui was here (who's Otani's favorite player).

Angles, Giants, and Mariners are also three small darkhorse teams, but I don't believe Otani winds up in those places.

Not sure why everyone is sleeping on Mariners when it comes to Otani. Japanese players prefer West Coast. Seattle has a large Asian community. Mariners are huge in Japan .... maybe even bigger than Yankees. They are also in AL.

They are not.

But they are a reasonable destination along with NY, LA and SF.

I was in japan a couple of months ago and don't remember seeing much that was MLB related. There was, however, plenty of this.

Wasn't in Japan during Ichiro days but know people that have.

Was in China during Yao Ming/Rockets days. It was unreal, people would stop what they are doing and be glued to a screen.

You are seriously underestimating Asian allegiances. When they had Ichiro they absolutely were.

And that more or less flipped completely once Matsui signed in NY.

Ichiro has been gone from Seattle for a long time now. There are many reasons why they would be attractive for a Japanese player though I won't argue that.

Tbh, I did that in America when Ichiro was up

Wait until Ichiro gets into the hof.

When does it get to the point that Didi becomes the best trade Cashman has ever made?

22 HR, 76 RBI with elite GG defense from the SS position. and he missed a month.

Played a year in ABL as a 20 year old and hit below Mendoza line haha.

Allergic to walks but a good player.

Sale won't win the Cy Young, no matter how many hairs fangraphs tries to split.

Sale had a 40 IP advantage when Kluber came back from the DL. Now it's down to just 17, and Kluber pitches tomorrow. He's pitched into the 8th inning in 12 of his last 17 starts. Sale only 4 in 17, and only 26 innings in his last 5 starts. That kind of pennant-chase durability is what voters tend to lean towards.
