Would you take Warmoth or Pearson at the Mets spot? Warmoth seems solid, while Pearson could be great or could be a middle reliever who touches 102 but nothing else.

Hoping Baz falls to the Mets spot, but I doubt it.

Warmoth. He's not a shortstop at ML level. Should move to 2B which is fine for Mets because they have Rosario.

Tbh i wouldn't be surprised if Baz makes it to end of 1st. He's a tough sign because of his commitment to TCU.

Phillies would be taking a big risk on Beck at 8.. He has already committed to UNC... Would he back out of that, to sign with the Phillies of all teams?

Chicago isn't trade Schwarber and we're not trading for him either. Yankees are not giving up on Bird.

If the money is there I don't see why not.

Possible, but the Yankees drafted Cole one year and he was already committed to UCLA, he went to college and was ultimately the #1 draft pick in the draft.. same could happen to Beck (or he could blow out) so its a risk either way.

The higher he more chance he signs because of $. Slot money for pick #8 is 4.7 mill compared to say pick #16 which is 3.3 mill. Phillies pick is also protected so they can afford to take the risk.

Matt Purke was drafted 14th overall but didn't sign. Went to TCU and then got drafted in 3rd round. I don't have the figures for 2009 but this year the difference between getting drafted in mid 1st and mid 3rd is around 3 mill. Now he could make that money easily if he makes the majors. At the moment he looks like a careee minor leaguer / emergency call up.

The beauty of baseball is that you don't need to bottom out to draft good players. Baseball is littered with great players drafted in rounds 2-10. Albert Pujols, one of the greatest players of our generatio, was a 13th round draft pick.

This is quite true

Yes exactly, that's why I love the sport. Piazza was an unbelievable late round draft pick as well.
