I don't disagree, ****ty mechanics/max effort delivery never ends well for the guy who employs them.

But if the Mets made him available, there is no doubt that he would bring back a bundle.
If we needed an ace, I'd pay a bundle. We have an ace.

I'm much more comfortable paying less than a bundle to add a #2.

One last point I sure as shit don't want Alderson to be the one making the trades to restock the farm system he destroyed in the first place.

I dont know MH. They need two Aces to make me comfortable. That would absolutely separate them from Boston imo. And would put them on par with Houston in a playoff series. You need 4 guys to go. With 2 getting two starts in a series. It was not pleasant seeing Verlander twice. Severino and MadBaum would be devastating for those teams to face. Tanaka in the 3 spot who when he is in is a #2. Then you can decide who the 4th is between CC/Gray/Monty. Getting another Tanaka essentially is not comforting. You need back to back arms that can shut the door.

This is true, but let's remember that our window is wide open and should be for awhile. Maybe this is the year for the big move, but maybe we're better served doing it in the winter when we don't have to give up assets.

But the thing is you could add MadBaum now and possibly another starter in the offseason in which you would have a nasty, nasty 4 to go against the big players in the American League, and this with Houston possibly losing Keuchel to us or someone else. So you are increasing your chances for this year, and then loading up for multiple years.

Also Cano getting suspended will really hurt Seattle in that division. Paxton becoming a more likely target.

I'd be all-in on Kuechel. Not only do you add a high-end starter, but you'd be taking him away from the biggest dog in the yard. It's probably a bigger swing than acquiring Bumgarner or the like.

I'm down for pursuing Paxton. He's a good pitcher but I don't know if he has the name recognition yet to return what Bumgarner, etc. would return.

Only a 9.4 carrer WAR, really just breaking out now. Might still be able to get him for a B+ package.

Paxton is already 30 years old? WOW had no clue. I'm not sure the Ms will give him up even with this Cano news. They think they have some kind of window to win

Real bummer on Cano. Hopefully he owns up to it instead of taking the Ortiz route.

Not our problem though.

Why settle for 1 ace when you can have 2?

Especially if the new guy has one of the most dominant post season resumes of all time? I will sell the entire farm if it means getting another Dynasty.

Well their record over the next 2 months will dictate if they've got a window or not.

Aging roster with one of the worst farms in the league. Plus their GM has a wet rubbery one for our farm (as does Billy Beane.)

Too late. He went 'Dominican doctor gave me this, wasn't aware it was banned' route.

To be fair, all it was was a diuretic not a ped.

Diuretics are used to mask the use of PEDs.

If he really needed the substance for a medical condition (lets pretend that he's telling the truth) can't he appeal the decision with evidence?

Taking it and sitting down just screams of guilt, should have just come clean at that point.

MLB doesn't suspend players immediately for the use of diuretics. They've already weighed the evidence that he's using it as a masking agent and decided to suspend.

Part of the reason he's not appealing is because of the DL stint and the fact the suspension starts immediately. So he's saving somewhere between 1/3 and half of the games lost by doing it at the start of the DL stint, At the same time, if he were that confident, his appeal would go through. MLB obviously thought it was being used maliciously. I'm pretty confident he's guilty, though there's a reasonable explanation why he's not appealing.

Doesn’t it hit him in his wallet all the same? Might be better for the team and playoff chances etc. but that’s probably the farthest thing from his mind when he chooses whether or not to appeal. $ and legacy are primary at that point. I would think that if he were innocent and had a valid reason for the diuretic he would specify and vigorously challenge the accusation. Instead he throws up a joke of a defense ‘ hey no actual PED was found in my system + Dominican doc gave it, no regulations down there’ when both excuses don’t actually address the real issue. It reeks of not wanting to admit it, but not having thought up a solid excuse either.
