OT: MLB Thread 2025

Sucks. I've not been much impressed by Marte. Baty sucks. Bullpen is imploding. Par for course for us fans.
Dedniel Nunez is back which should hopefully help. They're really going to need to find a LHP for the pen, though. Losing Minter and Young back to back was rough.

I remember being bummed about losing Alexander Canario but he hasn't done anything. That's the thing, though, finding a guy on waivers is really tough. I have more faith that they can find a decent reliever on waivers than a position player.

Jared Young might be worth a look as he's on 40-man, a LHH, and is a natural 1B so he could DH. As a Winker replacement.

Here’s what I don’t get, you took him out of the closer, which is good! But shouldn’t he be in low leverage situations for at least a few weeks.

So instead of the closer, he is your 8th inning guy, which also is still big pressure spots.

That is a real MILB jersey.

I missed it -- what happened?
Excerpt from the Post:

Alonso’s throwing error — he flipped high to Díaz covering first base on Alek Thomas’ leadoff grounder — gave the D’backs life.

Thomas was thrown out by Alvarez attempting to steal second base. Lindor applied the tag on Thomas’ right heel at the bag, and the call stood following a D’backs replay challenge.

“The ball caught me,” Lindor said. “I just went over there and looked and I stayed down with it and the ball hit my glove. It’s a credit to Alvy.”

Thomas was the potential tying run. Alvarez's throw was actually kinda off -- he threw at the runner instead of the base -- but Lindor picked it and applied the tag in one motion. He tagged Thomas' right heel but his glove clipped the left heel first. Thomas touched the bag as Lindor got his right heel at the same time, but the left heel touch beat him to the bag. Plus it was hard for the replay challenge to overturn the ump's safe call on the field.

Mendy seems to refuse to allow to let his starters throw over 90 pitches. Is he trying to save them for later in the year? I'm all for that, but it's coming at the expense of guys like Stanek and Kranick and Brazoban who literally pitch every day.

My opinion on Fenway: They built it in a space that was too small so they were forced to build the ridiculous Green Monster.
The Green Monster is so dumb.

People complain about the Yankees' short porch but among AL East arena weirdness...low on the list compared to the Big Green Monster, Orioles left field wall, The Trop (rest in piss), etc.
