The "put balls in play" argument is so dumb. The Dodgers struck out more than the Yankees did this year and the NYY's 2 opponents prior to LA had the 2nd fewest and 4th fewest K's in the league.

K's are up overall which is what happens when guys are throwing cutters at 100 mph and have sliders that have insane tilt and break 2+ feet. Thats what the game is now and has been for quite some time.

Guys got cold at the wrong time and the other team has gotten the big hits that they haven't. Thats the bottom line. It's not like the Dodgers and their vaunted offense have been tearing the cover off of the ball in this series.

Boone needs to go, that much is clear as a baseline and Cashman should have been fired years ago but he's got a lifetime contract.

I don't think you can say it's just going cold when the bottom eventually falls out of the offense every playoff run.

The Yankees offense is full of black holes. They have been shut down by just about every starter that they've faced.

Too many easy lanes. Attack this guy for an out, don't give this guy anything worthwhile and maybe he'll get himself out, worst case is a walk and we'll attack the guy behind him for an easy out so no damage.

Look at LA's 3rd run last night. They put on a hit and run which caused them to stay out of the double play, and then Edman scores on bloop hit that very few other players would have scored on. Yankees can't manufacture offense like that.

Stanton, one of their only guys who can hit, is probably slower than anyone who posts here.

Then the safety squeeze where Lux was probably safe but had to stick with call because it was too close.

There is a truth to the putting balls in play and puttin pressure on the other team. Yankees don't do it often enough, too much feast/famine.

Further to that, the Mets tagged LA in their two wins. So the Mets went from cold to hot in Game 2 LCS, then cold again for 2 games and then hot again in Game 5? Going cold argument is hogwash. Remaining cordial here, but yes. After Stanton, there's not much threat left. Regarding Judge, we don't need to cover that. It wasn't better for the Mets. Alonso had a couple of big, memorable moments, but he was largely ineffective. JD Martinez sucking down the stretch and into the postseason was someone the Mets could've used. Iglesias bottomed out. I attribute that to good Dodger pitching, because it was uncharacteristic of him to swing at stuff 2 feet from the plate. Taylor was put in as a regular for his defense, so Bader was out of the lineup. Alvarez came alive a little late.

Hold My Wallet Hal has us banking on players like Volpe Wells and Chisholm and 5c a pop bullpen (which has performed admirably) since he doesn't want to pay for proven talent and we're getting socked in the nuts for it.

Don't really want to include Jazz since he's been pretty good in the WS but for god's sake Volpe is about as clutch as I am and Wells as likely to hit the ball as I am. that's three automatic outs basically with two of them (jazz and wells) just as likely to ground into DPs as they are to strike out. it's bad, man.

Yep. Basically, just put a guy or two on base and swing for the fences is yankees offensive strategy for the last decade
