Stupid, stupid stuff from the Yankees.

Boras the wizard does it again.

I wonder if Cano gets $200m from Seattle now. Smooth move.

if we sign cano the team can win the WS next year with this lineup. i know im a biased yanks fan but i just cant fathom a yankee star signing with seattle in his prime.

Absolutely hate this signing. Loved the McCann signing but this makes no sense. Ellsbury is a solid player but not for 153 million. They Yankees still have some serious holes at pitching they need to work on but the signing baffles me.

My thoughts exactly

The Yanks definetly overpaid BUT as a met fan i am envious that you guys have owners that actually give a damn. My team's owners gave Chris Young a 7 million dollar deal and called it a day for teh offseason. As this point unless the mets somehow pony up the dough for both granderson and choo and get arroyo this is gonna be ghost town at Citi in 2014

This makes no sense unless A. They dont care if they lose Cano despite what they are saying, or B. 189 is blown up

Yeah, this is a bad contract. Like Ellsbury as a player but I think some of this money could have been used in other areas.

Another thing that concerns me is that Ellsbury and McCann have been injury-prone throughout their careers. Our lineup is already riddled with players who are susceptible to injury - Jeter, Gardner, Nunez and Tex have struggled to stay healthy in recent years. If they can't stay healthy, then they are no better off than they were last season.

The Astros got Fowler from the Rockies for next to nothing. Why the **** weren't the Mets in on that?

The money's nuts but Ellsbury's two major injuries were both from car crash style accidents. Adrian Beltre ran into him full bore and a Rays player fell on top of his shoulder. If nobody collides with him, his health isn't awful.

Cashman is clueless. Most overrated GM in baseball.
Its funny hearing yanks fan mad about contracts, Im a met fan so i havent had a big signing in 4 years. The yanks have the money to overpay because they go to the playoffs every year. Last Year everyone was injured

Andrew Marchand @AndrewMarchand
Boras would have gotten Cano $7 billion if he had stayed with him.:laugh::laugh:

I'd rather have Beltran 3/$48mil

Especially when crying poor to Cano.

This makes me think they're closer to Cano than we think

I'd be pissed quite frankly if we lose Cano because we won't do something like 8/180-190.. when we just gave Ellsbury almost 170M

I loved the Mccann signing, but not this one. Elisbury is injury prone, and only once has he hit over 30 home runs (2011 where he hit 32). He hit 4 home runs in 2012 (where he got hurt after only playing 72 or so games), then hit 9 home runs last season after playing 134 games. Everyone says the short porch will help restore Elisbury's home run power, but what if it doesn't? Beltran was my choice, but I guess both he and the Yankees couldn't agree to a deal.

Yeah but they still have spending guidelines, so it's reasonable to want them to spend their money wisely. I could think of about a 189,000,000 ways I'd rather spend that 153 million.
