Agree on CC. His xFIP is full run lower than his ERA and below average strand rate. Expecting low to mid 3s ERA next season from him.

Looking forward to getting Pineda back next season. I'd be fine with Phelps as a #5. Could always add a starter through free agency. Someone like Gavin Floyd. 3.61xFIP, ground ball pitcher.

CC has already given up more HRs this season (25) then he has in his whole career.. I don't believe that trend continues next year.

Also, I really hope Pineda is healthy next season. I think the Yankees made a hell of a trade there, especially getting Campos as well.. Lets hope it pays off.

The issue with CC is he has a dramatic drop in fastball velocity over the past few years. I would expect him to be a high 3's slightly above average guy going forward.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but there are rumors of D'Arnaud getting a call up in the next few days.

Betances has become a really good reliever. Banuelos will likely be ready next Spring. Maybe 2015 in the bigs. So much for the "killer bees" being "bust". Brackman only one...

Dellin's relief numbers : 1.48 ERA - 48.2 IP - 28 hits - 21 BB - 63 K - .169 average

Sweet pen next year: Robertson, Claiborne, Betances, Mongomery, Warren

Well of the 3 of them going
Brackman: Awful/out of organization
Betances: Terrible as SP/can't throw strikes/Semmingly decent reliever but still really wild
Banuelos: Coming off Tommy John surgery and also has awful control. Will be at best a lefty specialist if he can't start throwing strikes when he comes back.

Thats pretty bad overall.

You forgot Kelley who has been awesome for a while now.

Not all prospects turn out to be great. Or the way you want them. I don't know about you but I never expected all 3 to work out/be great. That's absurd. All are crap-shoots.

So what if Betances isn't a starter. For a second there, he was looking like a complete bust. Some guys just aren't starting material. His WHIP is very low. He's not THAT "wild". Robertson walked/s a lot of hitters too....

Manny Banuelos is a 21 y/o lefty. His career is far from over.

If I'm the Yankees I target Matt Garza in the off season and bring Kuroda back, Hughes/Pettitte go bye bye.. bring up Pineda. Phelps goes into the Mendoza role.

Sabathia, Kuroda, Garza, Nova, Pineda

give Betances a shot at the bullpen since he is out of options.

Between Warren, Phelps, Betances, Montgomery, Claiborne, Logan, Kelley, and Robertson, the bullpen should be the last place we look for outside help.

I well understand. None of the 3 look to be turning into anything good. Relievers are not that valuable. And he is THAT wild. His walk rate numbers in the minors are similar to those of the most wild RP in the majors. His WHIP has been terrible every year since 2010. Maybe hell be a moderately successful RP, sure, but that's nothing that important. He's also 25 years old already.

Maybe Banuelos has a chance but he's fallen from their number 1 prospect to number 11 and fast. He hasn't pitched in over a year and has been unimpressive above A ball. If he comes back with the same stuff and can throw strikes maybe he can be a decent SP. But if he doesn't do that he's basically stuck being a lefty specialist.

my God, I dont know how I stand Yankee boards.. Now they are saying Overbay is much better than Teixiera.

Overbay is awful. He's basically a slightly below average hitter which makes him a way below average hitter as a 1B. He's actually ranked 24/25 of among qualified 1B in WRC+ (and 24/25 in OPS for a more "standard" stat)

when Yankee fans are praising Lyle Overbay, you know there is problems

I know it's the minor leagues and they like to baby the kids' arms, but this is like the third time Syndergaard has thrown five shutout inning on roughly 50 to 60 pitches and then gotten pulled from the game. Do they really not want him getting up to even the 70 or 80 pitch range? Or is this just them being extra careful because it's late in the year?

The kid is on a innings limit. He only has like 20 more innings to go so they are trying to get him some extra starts. He is only 20 years old so he is still very young and he is already dominating AA.

Good start for wheeler tonight. He calmed down after the 2nd inning otherwise he probably could have gone 7-8 innings. No walks which is important. I just wish the defense would play better when he pitches

Oh boy.

Couple days ago I stumbled on Mets boards and the first topic was 'Mets should trade Harvey'.

Mets rotation is gonna be sick. harvey is already a beast, wheeler is getting better the more experience he gets, syndergaard is only 20 and is 6-0 with 1.75 ERA in AA. Gee and Niese are only 26/27 years old. Flores has a very high ceiling as an offensive threat, Travis D'arnaud is coming the next week or so. All we need is a couple decent free agents and its gonna be fun

Yea it's dumb. Just as dumb as this whole 6 man rotation thing to avoid shutting down Harvey. 10 starts left is 10 starts. You don't need to "not shut him down" by adding one extra day between them.
