With the Avs getting Nelson, what do they do with Mittelstadt? Keep him as a 3C or winger? Trade for another forward (Boeser? ROR?), or a d-man? Try to recoup some futures?

Honestly no idea, wonder if Avs trade him. Idk if Casey is gonna struggle on the 3rd line or find a groove, he is signed three years.
Nelson is only a 1 year guy and turns 34 next season. What are the odds he would take a 1-2 year deal and not wanna get paid? Especially with cap going up and he's got a pretty decent track record, I think his game will age fairly for the next 2 years if his conditioning/speed doesn't fall off completely.
Could this be the start of Nelson jumping around contenders for the next 3 years.

Needs to go to a team with Cap space and I’ll bet it’s Vancouver needing some offence in the top 6. I bet he goes for the pick acquired for Soucy. Knowing Vancouvers history with having other moves lined up.
I think they keep him for a run and eval the Nelson/Mitts choice in the off season.

That doesn't surprise me from a Canucks fan actually.This is my guess as well.... But the Avs do kind of need a Dman now and yeah the price for Centers is insane so who knows.
Could also see Ross Colton being the guy they move instead.
I bet you are wrong if you're expecting a team trying to compete for a cup trading their centre for a 3rd round pick.

Even with Mitttlestadt being garbage for half the season, he can still provide center depth and can reliably hold down the #3C position. He isn't being moved this season unless we get a top 4 RHD which is unlikely.

Just going to kindly say one more time, @BigDaddyLurch Don't trade for him, you guys would be better off keeping the assets. The rest is up to you of course

No habs, dont fit with MSL style. Mittelstadt needs more a cerebral type of game, where the game is slower. I expect him dealt for a RD.

He is on the table for sure. We need a third like center ++ for Mitts.

True, but he is able to play in a top six role. Jersey should be looking at him either way Hughes out long term. Price should be low too.

His contract scares teams. They’ve been trying to move him since January and nobody’s been biting. You just can’t trust him to play important minutes. Not at C anyway.
If a team is trading for hjm, they’re going to likely put him on the wing for the rest of the season. Then come training camp, really try fixing him. He’s a talented player. He just has too much roller hockey in him.
