He's also cheap enough, that if you get Colton and Wood tF gone I could see the case for pushing him to 3C in the off season if it doesn't work. He does the things you'd want in that role too. I don't feel the same way regarding Mitts.

If Mittelstadt is the problem, why trade Colton? He makes 4 million a year and is one bad MacFarland trade away from being the 2nd best C option on the Avs.

Not a center anymore for Bednar. Colton is likely an offseason trade anyway.

If Mittelstadt is getting less than 10 minutes a game, is he a center anymore for Bednar? Isn’t this the Johansen walk of shame? I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you but don’t you deal with one before the other?

Colton, IMO, has been more brutal than Mittelstadt. 0 points in 12 games, 1 goal in 18 games, 7 points in 30 games (which was his return from injury).

My $0.02 is that Mittelstadt is a bigger problem in general because of his role. But I also don't know how you win a series against Winnipeg or Dallas with Colton (and Wood - 3pts this year) being so unproductive offensively on the third line.

Really frustrating turn of events at the center position; Kadri/Compher -> Compher/Eller -> Johansen/Colton -> Mittelstadt/Colton -> Mittelstadt/Drury -> ???/Drury.

I recently posted Coltons and Mittelstadt’s pts/60 while with the Avs. Colton this year is 1.5, which is weird because he’s probably played more on the PP and on the second line, whereas last year he was 2.2 centering a 3rd line with LOC and Wood. It’s also a little odd that Mittlestadt’s best stretch of games was with bottom 6/AHL players.

Yeah, 2C role vs 3C/3W is the difference.

The prolonged slumps are more tolerable from 3rd liners, but both are playing below expectations.

Using the latest methods devised by benchskidmarks benchrates, I've come to the conclusion that Mitts is 5.975M overpaid. His salary is only 5.75M... but not only is he worthless, he was overpaid by 225K, which increased his negative value.

I kinda like the kid and hope the best for him. Don't get mad at me. Get mad at benchrates.

At this point and time, I'm not sure what the Avs could do. They would be trading from a position of weakness. No team is going to gift us a second line center. As many of us thought, I thought Casey was the answer. He has had moments where he looks super, but that seems soooo long ago now. Just my thoughts.

I really feel kinda bad for him. It feels like he's just not processing the game at the pace the Avs are attempting to play, causing everything to be off just enough to become useless. Am I wrong, in thinking it's between the ears? Or is there something else at play?
What’s puzzling is, he was playing just fine after the trade and earlier this season. So what the hell went wrong exactly?

You can almost see from his body language, him muttering under his breath, "f***ing shit, I gotta wear this stupid f***ing green jersey, f***ing damnit!"
He did not look like he was having fun. I'm sure we can all agree on that.

This is that makes is so damn sad. When was the last time you were on ice with a stick in your hand and tons of pucks laying around and you didn't have fun? My time actually spent playing hockey is so damn short compared to most because I didn't really have ice until I was old and didn't have a group to play with until I was a complete relic from another era.

It f***ing sucks that cameras are following him like this in Denver. This is the crap that Montreal and Toronto media do. I want the Avs media to do better than kick dogs when they are down.

To be fair though, this is the first time I felt Vogt was being mean-spirited by pushing this out.
