Injury Report: Mitchell Marner ankle injury (will miss at least 4 weeks)

Marner struggled without his centre JT and could find any chemistry even when playing with Matthews.

Going to be interested to see how Tavares fares now without Marner on his wing to see the cause and effect of that.

Tavares has a reputation of making his wingers better so lets hope whomever takes MM spot on the line is able to produce.

Tavares has been plain bad this year. He looks like he lost a step. He is effective scoring when he gets the puck around the front of the net or deflect point shots / put in rebounds.
All of those things require other players to get the puck to him in the right areas.

Only the nylander fan club. They will never admit marner is the better player.
So true. They are keeping up this bogus narrative that Marner has been bad this year. He certainly hasn't been playing his best but he has been fine.
Interesting fact... Marner leads the league in takeaways.

If it's a high ankle sprain, the timeline on that is super unclear.

3-10 weeks depending on how fast it heals and no set backs. The kind of injury you can't rush.

3 weeks is only for NFL players that can tape it up and mostly need to run in a straight line.

Not for people who wear skates.

prove this. Find a post from the last year that the poster says nylander is even equal. You made the claim you provide the proof

this happens so much on this forum hyperbole brushed off as if fact, show me then

Everybody loves a strawman Walshy, it's easy to make an argument if you make **** up about what people have actually written

I'm not saying it's difficult to understand. I'm saying that people's bias for Marner clouds their judgement on which player is actually better.

Sure, if you think Marner's potential/value is higher that's perfectly fine, and a very valid opinion. If you're talking about who's better now, analytics suggest that it's Nylander.

To be honest, it is the same people who used to debate who’s better that are the FIRST to jump on Mitch. That’s pretty obvious. So the debate is over, but the “sides” linger. Not you, just noting.

Any updates on Marner?

MRI today is the last thing I heard on one of the hockey podcasts, if that's true we probably won't get anything solid until tomorrow

Heres one

Morgs has always maintained Nylander is better than Marner, I don't agree with him but he's entitled to his opinion and one guy thinking that doesn't mean it's a prevailing belief on this board

Was hoping for best case but high ankle sprains are pretty cut and dry.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Its over a year old. That’s all you can find? Laughable

my original post specifically said in the last year because marner put it to bed in the last year

Oh no not a high ankle sprain they are the worst no definitive timeline on those. Is that confirmed or most like scenario? Didn’t Rielly have one a couple years ago? Even when he came back he wasn’t himself

you think that post says that nylander is better than marner? Cmon you know this is stretching. I said a post where a poster said nylander is better than marner that’s it and you can’t seem to find one.

This one says if nylander gets close to marner he should be worried.
A: he won’t
B: still isn’t saying nylander is better than marner

King Spezza to the rescue
He's actually played well when he has played.

Positive possession player despute heavy defensive zone starts and 4 points in 9 games with no powerplay time.

Needs to get the faceoffs back to his normal rate but he's spent half of his time on the wing anyways so that's secondary right now.

Try him up in the lineup a bit and see what happens.
