Have you seen Marner do this? Nobody is gonna win a cup, when 13% of their cap is doing this... add the 5 assists in 16 game 5,6,7s and his 7 giveaways that led to gwgs against... and it's more shocking that people are unaware why the fan base and media has Marner on the chopping block.

I have a hard time visualizing Mitch Marner playing in a game like Game 5 Florida vs Edmonton, making the right, hard plays and being on the winning side.

That game alone shows how far we are from being a contender and how a true star should rise up

Skill is the beginning. You need the other things that go with it. McDavid is intensity with it. When you’ve always been the best at every level, how do you top yourself. There it is.

Marner belongs in the Huberdeau, Gaudreau camp. There's tremendous regular season value in that type of player, but if the Leafs have championship pretentions they can't reasonably expect a guy like Marner to lead them through a playoff shit storm like what it is every year. That's just unrealistic.

Probably the best sum of the topic.

Exactly, no team operates like that. You can’t! There are times where team moves may align with what fans want. But the team
Isn’t making those moves because of the fans. They have their own internal reasons to make those moves.
It may not be a leading contributor in most cases but fans are the customers so their general response to a move is going to be a consideration on the business end of things.

Shanahan’s biggest weakness is he lost the critical eye for his own build and invested too much time, too many assets and too many kicks at the can for a group that doesn’t deserve more opportunities and a waste of time for this fanbase to invest hope in. The Leafs are an entertainment product that is becoming increasingly stale too.

I think the Kadri trade did some emotional damage on Shanahan and he's too afraid to make a big move to change the core.

Shanahan should have stayed out of the hockey side of it, hired experience and stuck to promotion, marketing and PR.

Ya know, if Marner forces his way onto the team this year, I could really see him struggling without Keefe there to give him his juice box and apple slices at intermission. Berube doesn't seem like the type to have patience for the kid gloves bullshit.

Which in a contract year where hes trying to screw over the organization again, would be f***ing hilarious
Laughed out loud at that one....

For sure, but it’s not going to be the driving force. It’s something they consider, they think about. But they aren’t it in a board room saying we gotta move Marner cause this city hates him.

It’s probably let’s move Marner to free up cap space, we can use the money elsewhere and get players we like to play a certain way.
